Heart Prevails Over Money as Kaká Remains Loyal to AC Milan

It is on the very rare occasions one gets to see a football player choose heart, love and loyalty over the temptation of money.

In a world where the financial aspects have come to run every part of the game ,it is truly touching to see that Ricardo Kaká decided against a move to Manchester City and its truckloads of money to remain where he truly belongs—AC Milan.

The move, should it have gone through, was repeatedly likened to the death of football. While record-breaking transfer fees are nothing new, the astronomical bid for the Brazilian playmaker was certainly out of the ordinary, as were his words after his rejection of the bid had been officially confirmed.

"Not even for thirty seconds did I think about leaving," he stated on Milan Channel. “I went with my heart, as it was never going to be an economic choice for me."

“At Milan there are wonderful people, and just to confirm, I have never, and will never, ask for an increase in my wages at this club."

A visibly happy Berlusconi also stated on SKY Italia that, “Kaka is a great champion and a great man. He turned down the offers from Manchester and preferred Milan, his teammates and his fans. He said no because money isn't everything in life... Money is important but there are also other things that are more important. As a fan I'm very happy. Kaka turned down a ton of money and it's a decision worth admiring."

In a time where club loyalty almost seems to have become a thing of the past, as both clubs and players alike are unable to restrain from giving into the lucrative temptations, the supporters that make up the foundation of the sport can be warmed by the admirable decision taken by the Ballon d’Or winner.

The Milan supporters’ relentless bid to pleading Kaká to stay moved the player as well.

According to reports from the Peninsula, the playmaker was seen at the window of his home before the City-deal was officially called off. He greeted the supporters outside as he held up a Rossoneri shirt and beat his hand three times on his heart.

The disturbances of the pitch has not only affected Kaká’s play, but affected the Milan squad as a whole. However, with the club’s relentless supporters backing Milan up, the team is sure to receive a boost as they take on Bologna when the season enters its second half.

Both Kaká and Milan can continue in their quest for the Scudetto with the midfielder’s decision to pass on the deal and instead tie himself to his current contract with the club that expires 2013.

The move being called off has most likely been the best deal for all parties involved, especially the Brazilian that will continue on to play for the club he cherishes, but most notably, the deal being called off has been a victory for football as a whole.
