NHL's Top 10 Players of March

The NHL regular season is coming to a close and the playoffs are right around the corner.

With the last full month of the regular season over, many players have stepped up their performance to help spark their team into the playoff race. Practically half of the teams have been eliminated from playoff contention and the Eastern and Western seedings are being sought out in the remaining few days of the regular season.

With April 7 looming and the playoffs about to begin, here is a list of the top 10 players during the month of March.

Sidney Crosby: Pittsburgh

Sid the kid is back and in full swing.

The biggest icon the NHL has seen since Wayne Gretzky has been a huge asset for the Penguins during his return.

Crosby has put together 17 points in 10 games, with three goals and 14 assists.

Anze Kopitar: Los Angeles

Anze Kopitar has helped push the Los Angeles Kings into the third seed in the Western Conference playoff race.

The Kings' assistant captain and center has produced 18 points during the month of March, netting seven goals and 11 assists in 15 games played.

Drew Stafford: Buffalo

3 of 10

Right winger Drew Stafford has helped bring the Buffalo Sabres out of the dark, currently sitting two points behind the Washington Capitals for the eighth and final spot in the Eastern Conference. 

Stafford has appeared in 16 games during the month of March, contributing 18 points, lighting the lamp eight times while dishing out 10 assists.

Jarome Iginla: Calgary

Although the Calgary Flames have been eliminated from playoff contention, captain and right winger Jarome Iginla has still provided his team with tremendous play.

Iginla has appeared in 17 games during March, accumulating 18 points. Iginla has split his points evenly between goals and assists, earning nine of each.

David Krejci: Boston

The Boston Bruins hold the second seed in the Eastern Conference playoff race. Part of their solid play has come from center David Krejci.

Krejci has played in 17 games in the month of March, providing the Bruins with 18 points. Out of his 18 points, Krejci had 10 goals and eight assists.

Tyler Ennis: Buffalo

Left winger Tyler Ennis has helped provide the spark that has the Buffalo Sabres in the playoff hunt.

During his play in March, Ennis has appeared in 16 games, contributing with 19 points. Out of his 19 points, Ennis has netted eight goals and provided 11 assists for the Sabres.

Ilya Kovalchuk: New Jersey

The New Jersey Devils hold the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference, with Ilya Kovalchuk providing most of the offense.

Kovalchuk skated in 17 games during March, earning 20 points with nine goals and 11 assists.

Marian Gaborik: New York

The New York Rangers hold the top spot in the Eastern Conference playoff race.

Marian Gaborik has been an offensive juggernaut all season long for the Rangers.

During the month of March, Gaborik has played in 17 games, producing 20 points with 10 goals and 10 assists.

Brad Richards: New York

9 of 10

Center Brad Richards has provided the Rangers with solid play and leadership all season long.

In March, the assistant captain appeared in 17 games for the Rangers, earning 22 points.

Richards has visited the red light district seven times, while dishing out 15 assists for his Eastern Conference leading Rangers.

Evgeni Malkin: Pittsburgh

10 of 10

"Geno" has produced solid play all season long, earning him the top spot as points leader throughout the entire NHL.

During his play in March, Malkin has appeared in 15 games, earning 23 points, netting 11 goals and contributed with 12 assists for the Penguins.
