Nike NFL Uniforms: Fans Shouldn't Expect Major Changes for Teams Immediately

Wes ODonnellJun 3, 2018

Nike took control the NFL apparel rights on Sunday but will unveil their new uniforms to the world at large today.

The sporting giant from Oregon has made some radical changes to college uniforms over the years and it has led some to believe that their favorite NFL team will be next.

While there are a number of false prototypes that were leaked onto the web early, the only thing Nike is currently showing on their website is a few t-shirts and shorts with the teams' current logos and colors.

The Panthers (via ESPN) and Seahawks (via SeattlePI) have reportedly made a few minor alterations to their logos while the Broncos (via Denver Post) and Jaguars (via PFT) are supposed to be changing the primary color of their uniforms to orange and black respectively.

But those major changes will not take place until 2013.

In fact, any major changes are unlikely to take place until the following the year at all.

Nike doesn't have the final ruling over what the uniforms ultimately look like and they'll have to go through a hoop or two to make something dramatic happen.

There are more than a few teams who need dramatic changes, however, and eventually Nike will start tinkering with things more and more.

Don't expect drastic changes, but later today we'll get a look at what Nike and teams are working with, where they'll start and how far they have to go.

Eventually the swoosh will make its mark on the NFL, but it won't happen overnight.
