LSU Football: Add Jeremy Hill's Name to the Crowded Tigers Backfield
LSU's backfield is a popular place these days.
Spencer Ware, Michael Ford, Alfred Blue and Kenny Hilliard all proved themselves to be legitimate SEC running backs last season. After LSU's spring game on Saturday, you can add another name to that running back mix—Jeremy Hill.
Hill rushed for 37 yards on six carries on Saturday, capping off a spring in which the freshman turned heads. At 6'1", 230 pounds, Hill is certainly capable taking the pounding that comes along with being an SEC running back.
How much has Hill impressed head coach Les Miles? Enough to convince the Mad Hatter not to redshirt him in 2012, according to CBS Rapid Reports:
""No, I can't imagine that we would want to redshirt him," he said. "He's big, strong, talented. I think he'll be ready."
"
Hill was rated a 4-star running back by Scout.com in the 2011 class, but he sat out last season after being arrested for sexual battery at his high school. That charge was later reduced to a misdemeanor, which opened the door for him at LSU.
Quarterback Zach Mettenberger has ignited the passing game in Baton Rouge, but the foundation at LSU will always be a consistent running game. Add Hill to the mix of players that will contribute to that attack in 2012.
