Arkansas Football: Head Coach Bobby Petrino Hospitalized After Motorcycle Crash

Arkansas head football coach Bobby Petrino was involved in a single-motorcycle accident Sunday night in Madison County, according to the Twitter feed of Robbie Neiswanger of the Arkansas News Bureau/Stephens Media.

The University of Arkansas has confirmed that the accident occurred late Sunday evening near the town of Crosses in Madison County in Northwest Arkansas.  According to Neiswanger, Petrino was hospitalized overnight in Washington County.

"Coach Petrino was involved in a motorcycle accident on Sunday evening that involved no other individuals," Petrino's family said in a statement.  "He is in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery. Our family appreciates respect for our privacy during the recovery and we are grateful for the thoughts of Razorback fans at this time." 

According to Chris Bahn of ArkansasSports360.com, Petrino was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Arkansas athletics director Jeff Long visited Petrino in the hospital on Monday afternoon, and released this statement.

"Late this afternoon I had an opportunity to visit with Coach Petrino and Becky at the hospital. Coach Petrino is resting comfortably and is encouraged by the progress of his recovery. I know that he is very much looking forward to returning to spring practice at the earliest opportunity. In the course of our visit, the Petrinos expressed their appreciation for all the thoughts and well wishes that have come in from all over the country. I am confident that everyone in the Razorback Nation is united in wishing Coach Petrino a speedy recovery.”
