50 Ugliest Hockey Team Jerseys Ever

The NHL has had its share of ugly jerseys over the years, and even some of the jerseys worn by teams right now are hard to look at.

The AHL, NCAA and other leagues have also had teams wear jerseys onto the ice that made you go "what were they thinking?"

Let's look at 50 of the ugliest jerseys in hockey history.

Vancouver Canucks

Do I really have to explain why these are hideous?

New York Islanders

The stripes and the big solid turquoise one at the bottom really make this jersey look weird. The Islanders have a terrible ability to create good-looking jerseys.

Montreal Canadiens

When the Montreal Canadiens broke these out to wear again a few years ago, we were treated to one of the worst-looking jerseys in hockey history.

The Fisherman logo for the New York Islanders was a terrible idea. These jerseys were a total failure.

Milwaukee Admirals (AHL)

The Milwaukee Admirals of the AHL once wore this atrocious alternate jersey. What were they thinking here?

Nashville Predators

The Nashville Predators have gotten a lot better at making jerseys over the years. This was one of their first ones, and it is awful.

I'd love to know what the Los Angeles Kings were thinking when they had their players actually wear these hideous jerseys in actual NHL games.

Ferris State is in this year's Frozen Four, which is great for them but bad for our eyes.

2001 NHL ASG

You'd think the NHL could find sweet All-Star jerseys since millions of people will be watching this game all over the world.

Buffalo Sabres

The Buffalo Sabres have changed their jerseys a lot in their history, but these ones that began in 2006 are the worst of them all.

Dallas Stars

I don't know where to begin with these hideous third jerseys from the Dallas Stars.

Phoenix Roadrunners

These jerseys are awful. Poor logo, poor design, poor execution. 

Florida Everblades (ECHL)

The Florida Everblades of the ECHL failed in making a cool holiday-themed jerseys. It would be embarrassing to see yourself play in these.

Atlanta Thrashers

Now that the Atlanta Thrashers no longer exist, we don't have to put up with any of their terribly-designed jerseys anymore.

Tampa Bay Lightning

The Tampa Bay Lightning have had some cool jerseys in their history, but this one is not in that group, unfortunately.

Calgary Flames

The Calgary Flames usually have some awesome jerseys, but this design was really bad.

The later versions of this jersey that were worn in the 1990s were far better.

The California Golden Seals weren't very good on the ice, and neither was their ability to design quality jerseys.

St. Louis Blues

These were actual jerseys that were to be worn by the St. Louis Blues in the mid-1990s, but their coach refused to wear them. Great decision.

Charlotte Checkers (AHL)

The Charlotte Checkers made a terrible decision by putting a cartoon-looking animal as their logo on their jerseys.

Boston Bruins

It didn't make sense for the Boston Bruins, a team that plays a "big and bad" style of hockey, to have a jersey with a smiling bear on the front.

Penguins Winter Classic 2008

These 2008 Winter Classic Penguins jerseys are awful. The light blue color is bad and the jersey lacks the nostalgic feel that most Winter Classic jerseys have.

Chicago Blackhawks

Let's just say the Chicago Blackhawks jersey designs have a come a long way since the 1920s.

If Hamilton ever gets an NHL team, they better design some better looking jerseys.

Toronto Maple Leafs

There was never a need to put the color red in the Toronto Maple Leafs jerseys. Blue and white alone is perfect.

The Pittsburgh Pirates no longer exist, which is good for several reasons, with one of them being that we don't have to look at these jerseys ever again.

Lake Superior State Lakers (CCHA)

I'm not feeling the boring design of these jerseys from the Lake Superior State Lakers. The anchor logo isn't great either.

Montreal Maroons

In the very early days of the 20th century, the Montreal hockey teams had some awful-looking jerseys. These are from the 1920s.

Detroit Cougars

Changing their name from the Courgard to the Red Wings was a smart move for the Detroit franchise. Their jerseys today are phenomenal.

Dayton Bombers (ECHL)

The Dayton Bombers used to be in the ECHL, but are no longer part of the league. When they left, they took their terrible jerseys with them.

These were the first ever Pittsburgh Penguins jerseys. Thankfully, they switched to the black and yellow color scheme after this.

The Oilers normally have fantastic jerseys, but these blues ones with the oil logo are terrible. Much worse than the normal orange and blue Oilers color scheme.

Santa Claus jerseys aren't a good idea; do I need to explain why?

Quad City Mallards (CHL)

The Quad City Mallards, before the Calgary Flames cut ties with them in 2007, sported this incredibly ugly jersey.

Cleveland Lumberjacks (IHL)

The Cleveland Lumberjacks decided to go with a rainbow jersey one year. Hopefully, this isn't seen again in any hockey league.

Las Vegas Wranglers (ECHL)

The Las Vegas Wranglers return to this list with another eyesore. This jersey is absolutely brutal.

Richmond Renegades (ECHL)

Even on Valentine's Day, this Richmond Renegades jersey would be ugly.

El Paso Buzzards (CHL)

The El Paso Buzzards are no longer a member of the CHL, and I think that benefits everyone. We don't need to see jerseys like this.

Alabama-Huntsville Chargers (CHA)

These jerseys from Alabama-Huntsville Chargers look like something you'd find on a kids team. They don't have that "hockey sweater" look, if you know what I mean.

The San Antonio Iguanas are no longer in the ECHL, which is good for all hockey fans who can't stand poorly-designed jerseys.

Lubbock Cotton Kings (CHL)

This is not a terrible jersey, but the logo is really bad. With something simple like the "Kings," there is so much room for improvement here.

Long Beach Ice Dogs (ECHL)

This jersey from the old ECHL team the Long Island Ice Dogs would be cooler if the logo wasn't horrendous.
