Wrestlemania 28 Results: Cody Rhodes' Career Takes Step Back vs. Big Show

Brandon GalvinJun 1, 2018

Cody Rhodes is officially lost in the shuffle because WWE decided to once again swerve the fans for the sake of swerving the fans.

Big Show may have received his overdue WrestleMania moment, but it was pointless as it came at the expense of the promising Rhodes.

Rhodes has been the Intercontinental Champion for more than 200 days and was truly coming in to his own as one of the top midcard heels in the company. A solid in-ring worker, he delivered the goods on the microphone during his build-up with Big Show leading into 'Mania. His video packages consisting of Big Show's embarrassing moments were priceless.

Rhodes desperately needed to beat Show at the Granddaddy pay-per-view to cement his status as one of the premier heels in WWE. More importantly, he needed to retain the IC Title to bring further credibility back to the Championship.

The IC Title was abused for years before finally reaching Rhodes. He brought back the white strap and made the IC Title his. That Championship looked perfect as it rested around his waist. Now, it's resting on Big Show's shoulders for no damn reason other than catching the fans off guard.

It doesn't matter if Rhodes gets the title back at Extreme Rules or even Raw tomorrow night under Johnny Ace's watch. He needed to break Honky Tonk Man's immense record and prove to the world that he is the next top heel in the company.

Instead of having the opportunity to do just that, WWE had Big Show crush his potential by taking a massive fist to the face.
