WWE WrestleMania 28 Results: Chris Jericho and 7 Contenders for the WWE Title
Oh what a night. While we witnessed history on so many levels, the CM Punk/Chris Jericho match for the WWE Title was one of the best matches of the night (toss-up between with the Hell in a Cell).
And while I expressed in my slider a few minutes ago that I thought this would not live up to the hype due to Johnny Ace's stipulation about Punk and his anger, the match evened out and proved to be one of the best technical matches I had seen in a while, maybe years.
Chris Jericho still has it in him to give us a great match. Punk is still "The Best in The World." And both sold the hell out of the match.
Now that Punk has retained his title, here is a look at contenders for the WWE Title.
Dolph Ziggler
1 of 8Will he be given another push?
He was awarded one, had a title shot, lost and was pushed aside for Chris Jericho.
Ziggler has great potential and with his manager, Vickie Guerrero, is perfect to take another swing at Punk if given the opportunity.
Alberto Del Rio
2 of 8When he comes back to Raw, will he have a spot? He needs to be in the main event because there is nowhere else for him to truly go.
Del Rio won the WWE Title too fast and therefore will toil if he in not fighting for a championship.
Santino Marella
3 of 8He is the United States Champion after all. At least for now.
But who comes out to face him and challenge for a belt that, right now, means nothing?
Does Marella get some consideration to move back up the WWE ladder, or does he once again become a puppet gimmick in the company?
John Cena
4 of 8If there is a way that tonight triggers a "heel" turn, then Cena can jump right back into the title picture.
I love seeing these two wrestle. Cena gives his all and The Rock sells for him.
They have an in-ring chemistry that works, and both seem to enjoy working with each other. And if nothing else, their feud was cut short by that damn "conspiracy" that never happened.
Kane
5 of 8This would be a nice feud, but may not happen.
We have seen Kane in angles with John Cena and, now, Randy Orton. Does the Orton angle continue? Does Kane move on to another "victim"?
Can Kane move back into the title picture? Punk with his "edge" would be a nice challenge.
Kofi Kingston
6 of 8Since he is a face, I do not see this happening, but you never know.
I thought Kingston would be given a chance to fight for a title again, but it appears he is in the middle of tag team wrestling.
There's still tag team wrestling in the WWE?
The Miz
7 of 8Now that he won for Team Johnny he needs to be rewarded.
Will Johnny Ace put him back in the title picture with Punk?
The Miz is too talented—albeit winning too much too soon—to walk away from the title mix. It will be interesting to see what now happens with his character.
Chris Jericho
8 of 8I loved the chain wrestling these two were involved in at WM 28.
Now the feud must continue. Can Jericho still sell for Punk? Will the title change hands back and forth?
Can it be a Steamboat/Flair type of rivalry? These guys are too good together in and out of the ring for the feud to end.
