15 Tennis Players You'd Most Like to Hit the Clubs with

Madhusudan G RaoJun 5, 2018

Whom would I like to hit the clubs with? Will I go for the Fab Four (Djokovic, Nadal, Federer, Murray) or are there other players who will provide good tips?

What will one look for in such an experience? Obviously, tips on how to play the game is the first goal. The attention to detail that these players pay to achieve their greatness would be on my mind to pick their brains.

When one is in such exalted company, I would come up with a list of questions to ask these players and also pair them with one another for an exhibition match. Such a match will give a lot of insights for the younger generation on how such great athletes think.

Overall, I am looking for a good evening to spend the time on the court. If I can improve my tennis, that will be a bonus!

Who are these fifteen players?

Anna Kournikova

1 of 15

Not just for adding glamour to the court, Anna Kournikova will be the MC (Madam of Ceremonies)—she will be given the duties to interview the players during the evening.

Anna, with her familiarity of players, might be able to have them reveal more than what is expected!

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga

2 of 15

Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga is well-known for magic on the court with his skills and court coverage.

He would be the best player to start the evening where other legends will be in play.

Gael Monfils

3 of 15

Playing Gael Monfils against Tsonga would give the fans value for their money.

Just how well Monfils moves on the court will give the youngsters a great lesson in court coverage.

This will definitely whet the appetite of the fans for the rest of the evening.

Leander Paes

Trying to figure out what keeps Leander Paes running at the age of 39 when most of his peers are contemplating retirement will be the main goal of his interaction.

Obviously, thoughts on the Olympics and whether he can add to his existing bronze medal will be on one's mind as well.

He has just completed his 50th doubles title in Miami and promised to win the next year as well. Wow!

Kimiko Date-Krumm

5 of 15

Getting to know her experience over the past few years and how she has seen different generations come and go.

She would be the ideal person to compare Graf, the Williams sisters, Clijsters, Henin, Azarenka, Sharapova at their prime and do a first-hand analysis of their games.

Pairing Kimiko Date with Leander Paes will be an enthralling session between two players who are still active in their playing circuit.

John McEnroe

6 of 15

John McEnroe - It is very rare that one is in the company of a genius.

Watching the legend play his shots even at this age and hearing him talk is all that one can do in such a moment.

Stefan Edberg

7 of 15

How he became and remained the Cool Gentleman in the heated cauldron of ATP tennis is one secret that everyone would be eager to listen to.

Having Stefan Edberg play against John McEnroe would be good to get the clock rolling back all those years.

If the match can happen on the hallowed lawns of Wimbledon, wonderful!

Maria Sharapova

8 of 15

Other than adding to the glamour quotient, Maria will also benefit by the presence of other luminaries in this 'meeting.'

This will give her an opportunity to pick the brains of other legends and learn what else she needs to do to increase her chances of winning.

John Isner

9 of 15

Talk about the match with Mahut will be the main focus during the discussions with John.

What were his thoughts after the match was completed? What does he feel when he looks back at the match?

Having John play a match against Maria Sharapova will be an interesting match for all the ogling eyes!

Pete Sampras

10 of 15

Just by seeing the genius in action, there will be a lot to learn from.

How did Sampras feel when Roger went past his record?

Did it help that Federer was his friend by then?

Roger Federer

11 of 15

Roger Federer—the true gentleman on the ATP Tour at present.

Provided he does not come in his creamy whites, he is a marvel to watch on the court.

Pairing him against his friend Pete Sampras will give a real treat to the beholders.

Their strokes and match-play will be a one that generations will remember.

Andre Agassi

12 of 15

Questions about his Open book will be the main topic of conversation with Andre Agassi.

Also, it would be interesting to know what he felt about the reaction to the book by his fellow players. Did he face any backlash so far?

Brad Gilbert

13 of 15

A master-coach, Gilbert would be the focus of all coaches on the extra strategy that he brought to the table with Agassi.

Making the coach and his pupil play each other will be another interesting matchup.

Mansour Bahrami

14 of 15

The session with Mansour Bahrami will be to understand how he keeps himself fit and try to learn (if possible) some of the trick shots he plays in his matches.

Henri Leconte

15 of 15

Need I say more!

Having Bahrami and Henri Leconte on either side of the net is going to be one enjoyable experience for everyone involved

Pure entertainment, indeed!
