Wrestlemania 28 Results: WWE Robs Fans by Burying Daniel Bryan vs. Sheamus

Brandon GalvinJun 7, 2018

The opening match sets the tone for an entire event and WWE robbed the fans of greatness by burying Daniel Bryan vs. Sheamus to start WrestleMania 28.

It's amazing to think back to WrestleMania X when Owen Hart and Bret Hart put on the greatest opening match in wrestling history. Now, here we are in 2012 and Sheamus defeats Bryan with the Brogue Kick in a record 18 seconds.

Are you kidding me, WWE?

How does that at all make sense?

The feud may have been shafted a bit heading into WrestleMania, but this was Sheamus and D-Bry's one moment to shine. This was their stage to put on a fantastic match, which we all know they're capable of, and WWE robs them and the fans of that possibility.

Most knew Sheamus would win the match as WWE needed to make sure the Royal Rumble winner looks strong. Still, this is taking it to a completely new level.

Bryan was doing a great job as one of the top heels in the company. He is also one of the most talented in-ring performers in the world. Bryan and Sheamus could have opened up the show in grand fashion. Their clashing styles would mix well, especially given that Sheamus has proved he can work with any and all performers.

Sheamus put on a fantastic finish with Chris Jericho at the Rumble. He has proven he can work, but WWE insists on making him a superhuman performer. Save that for Mark Henry and the other monsters. Sheamus and Bryan desperately needed the WrestleMania stage to prove that they are the next generation of elite WWE Superstar.

Not only did WWE screw the fans, Sheamus and Bryan, they screwed themselves, royally.
