Leaf posted bond at $76,000 on Friday evening, officials at Cascade County Detention Center told the Great Falls Tribune.

Leaf was arrested Friday afternoon at the Probation and Parole Office in Great Falls, Mont., Great Falls Police Sgt. Dean Bennett told the Tribune.

"One of our officers picked him up, arrested him and booked him in," Bennett told the Tribune.

This is just another disappointing chapter in Leaf's life. Leaf was selected No. 2 overall by the Chargers in the 1998 draft, right after the Indianapolis Colts selected future of Hall of Fame QB Peyton Manning. Two picks later, with the fourth-overall selection, the Oakland Raiders chose another future Hall of Fame player, cornerback Charles Woodson from the University of Michigan.

Leaf only lasted four seasons in the pros and never lived up to the hype he had as a star player for Washington State. His career ended after the 2001 season and he finished with 14 touchdown passes and 36 interceptions in 25 games.

His story is one of the saddest that the sport of football has seen in the last 25 years. It's really unfortunate how his career ended up, and it's too bad, because Leaf had so much talent.

Hopefully, he can get his life back on track.
