🚨Sabres Force Game 7 vs. Habs

5 Games Remaining: Caps Top B's in Shootout. Snap Win Streak at 3

Cory DuceyJun 7, 2018

The Washington Capitals are looking to regain the last playoff spot, as they are two points back on the Buffalo Sabres, who were idle.

To do that, they will need to beat the Boston Bruins, who are on a three-game win streak and look to extend their lead on the Ottawa Senators. A win this night would clinch a playoff spot.

Nothing in scoring on both periods, as the Capitals were basically outplayed by the Bruins, and while they had their chances, they could not cash in on them.

Jason Chimera was called for charging, and B's defenseman Adam McQuaid left the game holding his head. The call also brought about a game misconduct.

We'll see of Sheriff Shanny does anything regarding this play.

The first 40 minutes are a bore...

Final Frame

Dennis Wideman finally opened the scoring of the game. The Bruins were basically watching the play, as Tim Thomas was beaten on the wrist shot from the slot to beat the Bruin netminder high blocker side.

Less than two minutes later, the Caps extend the lead with a two on one that left Chara out to dry.

Alex Ovechkin skated up the side and passed the puck to Marcus Johansson, who made the Bruins' defensive snafu count to their advantage. 2-0 Capitals.

Bruins put the pressure on, and Zdeno Chara wristed a shot through a crowd of players and David Krejci tipped it in to put the game within a goal. 2-1 Capitals.

The B's get back into the game with a blast from the point by Andrew Ference. It looked like Tyler Seguin might have gotten a piece of it, but the replay showed it was all Ference's goal. With 1:16 left of regulation, that forced Extra Fun.

Extra Fun

There were a couple of chances on both sides, and there was a chance apiece at the last seconds, but the horn blew OT dead and it's off to Extra EXTRA Fun...otherwise known as the shootout...
