NFL Free Agents 2012: San Diego Chargers Reportedly Re-Sign DT Antonio Garay
Antonio Garay, who revitalized his career in 2009 with the Chargers, has agreed to a new deal with San Diego, according to Pro Football Talk.
Originally a 2003 sixth-round draft pick of the Browns, Garay found himself out of football for the entirety of the 2008 season after the Bears opted to cut ties with him.
He eventually latched on with the Jets practice squad in 2009, but it wasn’t long before the Chargers poached him to their active roster, where he has been a defensive mainstay since.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
At 6’4” and 320 pounds, Garay is a space clogger with athleticism and power to disrupt the running game—which can be traced to his roots as a former college wrestler. He’s combined for 105 tackles from 2010-2011, and has also boosted San Diego’s interior pass rush with 8 sacks during that time.
The 32 year old had a limited market this offseason, and will likely continue to split reps with Cam Thomas in San Diego. Thomas, a young interior presence, finished 2011 with 20 tackles and 4 sacks.
