College Football Recruiting 2013: DE Torrodney Prevot Continues Meteoric Rise

Torrodney Prevot is one of the hottest names on the recruiting trail right now.

The Scout 4-star recruit from Alief Taylor HS (Houston, TX) has seen 18 programs offer him scholarships in the past two months, was awarded defensive MVP of the Nike Football Training Camp in Dallas last weekend and already earned an invite to the prestigious Nike showcase known as The Opening.

The latest program to make an offer to the rising senior is Pac-12 powerhouse USC, according to Damon Sayles of ESPN.

The Trojans join a chase that includes the likes of Texas, LSU, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M and Texas Tech (among many others).

Prevot a 6'4", 205-pound defensive end, may not have the bulk or strength teams prefer, but he continues to wow anyone who watches with his burst, explosion and athleticism.

Many believe the Longhorns are favorites for the Texas native, but as offers continue to pour in, Prevot plans to continue riding out the recruitment process.

Jason Suchomel of Orangebloods.com reports that Prevot is scheduled to visit LSU this Saturday for their spring game before traveling back to Austin for Texas' spring game on Sunday.

It is a lot of traveling, but Prevot continues to do his homework on all interested schools and certainly won't rush into a commitment—especially when the likes of Notre Dame and USC just joined the party in the past month.

Things are truly just getting started for Prevot. When he appears at The Opening in July, he'll have the opportunity to compete with 150 of the best players in the nation. If the way he's performed thus far in competition is any indication, he'll be one of the best at the showcase in Beaverton, Oregon  as well.

With his height and currently slight build, he'll be a dangerous weapon if he fills out and keeps his speed andathleticism. 

Look for Prevot's stock to continue to soar and expect more offers to flood his way. His rise to superstardom is just getting started.
