NFL Draft 2012: Injuries to First Rounders Forces Bama to Hold Second Pro Day

Barrett SalleeJun 2, 2018

Three of Alabama's potential first round draft picks will get a second chance to make a first impression.

The Crimson Tide will hold a second Pro Day on Thursday, March 29 specifically for potential first-round picks Trent Richardson, Mark Barron and Courtney Upshaw. The scheduled sequel will also include seniors and draft-eligible juniors, some of which participated in Alabama's previous Pro Day on March 7.

Richardson is projected to be the first running back off of the board in April's NFL Draft, with Cleveland at No. 4 or Tampa Bay at No. 5 being the two most likely landing spots. Richardson missed the first Pro Day after undergoing offseason knee surgery. Barron is recovering from double-hernia surgery, but is still projected as one of the top safeties in the draft. Upshaw has been slowed by tendinitis in his knee, and is also projected to be drafted late in the first or early in the second round of next month's draft.

While the chance to work out in front of the scouts will certainly help the three potential first-rounders that missed the previous Pro Day, the real beneficiaries of the Pro Day sequel are the other players that participate. Alabama has the name recognition, but having three stars participating will increase the attention on the event, which gives some unknown players the chance to shine.
