College Football Recruiting 2013: Inside the Battle for E.J. Levenberry, Jr.
Who isn't chasing E.J. Levenberry, Jr. right now?
The Rivals 4-star recruit has been offered scholarships by the likes of Alabama, Michigan, LSU, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Ohio State and Notre Dame, among many others.
And has been dealing with the recruiting process since the ninth grade—or so his father says.
Levenberry, Sr. was quoted by ESPN's Radi Nabulsi just after the Georgia Bulldogs offered, saying:
""We hadn’t thought about Georgia really because a lot of schools have been recruiting E.J. since the ninth grade ... Right now E.J. is looking at anyone who is looking at him, especially any school with as rich a tradition as Georgia ... I don’t really care where he goes just so long as they meet our parameters. My thing is the academics. He wants to be a business major. Everywhere you visit they show you the business school, but can you get in there?"
"
Not just that, but Levenberry, Sr. went on to talk about coaching relationships and how he thought his son was ready to commit to Oklahoma and then Tennessee before coaching changes altered those plans.
On top of that, the potential superstar linebacker says, via 247Sports, that he won't make a decision until at least the 2013 US Army All-American Game.
That leaves the Virginia native's recruitment wide open.
He has offers from every SEC school but Kentucky, and every ACC school but Wake Forest and Duke.
Plain and simple, it won't be easy to win over the Levenberry family. They do their research and they have plenty of criteria they want met.
Football is far from the only thing they care about, and establishing that type of relationship takes time.
Fortunately, all competing schools have exactly that.
They'll be fighting an uphill battle, though, as programs like Michigan, LSU and even Georgia have already made an impression.
We know Levenberry, Jr. won't make a decision for some time, but expect to hear plenty about him in the coming months.
