Women's Tournament 2012 Scores: Baylor's Smackdown Proves Bears Won't Be Stopped

Ian BergJun 7, 2018

Baylor took Tennessee to the woodshed on Monday. The Bears pushed into the Final Four of the women’s tournament with a 77-58 win over the Lady Vols, further solidifying why the Bears won’t be stopped in this tournament.

The Bears have run the table so far this season and have no intention of slowing down now that they are two games away from a title. The Bears will face off against a very talented Stanford Cardinal squad on April 1, but Stanford won’t have the fire power to match the Bears' attack.

Stanford was the No. 1 seed in the Fresno bracket, and they have had a lot of success against some of the country’s top talent, but Baylor is simply on another level.

The Bears have Brittney Griner, who ranks fifth in the country in scoring. Griner is also a top 50 rebounder this season, averaging 9.4 boards per game. The Bears have the third best scoring offense, averaging 78.9 points per game.

Griner is a once-in-a-lifetime type talent for the Bears and for women’s college basketball. Her ability to block shots, gain rebounds and move up and down the court is unmatched. Griner will help guide these Bears to a rare undefeated season by the finish of the tournament.

The Bears will advance to the championship game that is set for April 3, likely facing off against Notre Dame, another squad that has been tough to handle all year, only losing three games throughout the season.

Despite Notre Dame’s best efforts, they will fall short, and the Bears will cut down the nets in Denver.
