New York Knicks star forward Carmelo Anthony has come down with yet another nagging injury.

During the Knicks' 89-80 win against the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday night, 'Melo came down with an apparent leg injury. The initial word is that it's nothing serious, but it's definitely a situation worth monitoring.

Anthony has put an end to any speculation that he might be missing Wednesday's game against the Orlando Magic

According to Barbara Baker of New York Newsday, Anthony stated definitively that he was going to be on the court.

"

Carmelo says he will play tonight.

Hard to argue with that. He appears to have found his groove lately, as his shot looks better and he is more confident in the offense.

It will be interesting to see how he adapts when Jeremy Lin returns, but for now Anthony is just happy to be playing at the level we have gotten so accustomed to seeing from him.

UPDATE: Wednesday, March 28, 7:50 a.m. ET by Donald Wood

After injuring his groin in a win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday, many Knicks fans were concerned that the recent surge of injuries to stars like Jeremy Lin (knee) and Amar’e Stoudemire (back).

The concerns over Carmelo Anthony’s injury were serious, but thank goodness for the team that the injury itself was not.

The New York Daily News is reporting about ‘Melo’s status as told on ESPN by the man himself:

"

Anthony, whom the Knicks listed as questionable after tweaking his groin in Monday’s win over Milwaukee, said in an ESPN radio interview that he expects to be available “for sure” against the Magic.

"

With two of the better players on the team on the bench and the eighth playoff spot in the East being hotly contested, New York will be ecstatic to get their primary scorer on the court against a tough Orlando team Wednesday.

UPDATE: Tuesday, March 27 at 4:00 p.m. ET

Good news, Knicks fans. Melo has spoken about his wounded groin, and he doesn't sound too concerned about it.

Courtesy of Al Iannazzone of the New York Newsday:

"

Melo on his groin: "It’s not nearly as bad as it was the first time. I was able to get back out there and still play."

This is coming more than 24 hours ahead of Wednesday's tip against the Magic, so it stands to reason Melo will feel even better tomorrow. It sounds like this is all going to be much ado about nothing.

UPDATE: Tuesday, March 27 at 3:10 p.m. ET

Howard Beck of The New York Times has reported that Melo is being listed as questionable for Wednesday night's game against the Orlando Magic:

"

Knicks are listing Carmelo and JLin as questionable for Weds game vs Orlando. No update on Amare, who's visiting w/doctor in Miami today

— Howard Beck (@HowardBeckNYT) March 27, 2012"

The situation will surely become more clear over the next 24 hours or so. Stay tuned.

UPDATE: Tuesday, March 27 at 8:34 a.m. ET

Carmelo Anthony will be re-evaluated today and appears day-to-day after aggravating his groin injury during Monday's win vs. Milwaukee, according to ESPN New York's Ian Begley.

"

"He will be re-evaluated Tuesday morning and hopes to be available for Wednesday's home game against the Orlando Magic.

'I don't think it's too bad; I just want to take it day by day,' Anthony said. 'Tomorrow, [I'll] get re-evaluated and see what happens from there.'

'...It aches a little bit right now. If I had to play tomorrow, I probably would,' Anthony said after scoring 28 points on 8-for-20 shooting against Milwaukee. 'But we'll see how it feels tomorrow.'"

Chris Mannix of SI.com passed along this update, courtesy of Knicks head coach Mike Woodson:

"

Mike Woodson says Carmelo told him he 'tweaked' his groin. Unclear on how serious it is.

— Chris Mannix (@ChrisMannixSI) March 27, 2012"

Obviously, the news could be a lot worse. In fact, Al Iannazzone of New York Newsday reports that Melo is going to try to play Wednesday against the Orlando Magic:

"

Also Melo tweaked his groin in the win over bucks. He said he had to gut it out. He'll get treatment and see if he can go wednesday.

— Al Iannazzone (@Al_Iannazzone) March 27, 2012"

'Melo had to miss some action in February with a strained groin. His absence happened to coincide with the rise of Jeremy Lin, and the Knicks ended up going 6-1 in 'Melo's absence.

Upon his return, the Knicks promptly lost eight of 12.

'Melo is averaging 20 points and 5.8 rebounds per game this season, and he had a double-double with 28 points and 12 rebounds against the Bucks on Monday night.
