Why USC Again?

David CardinJan 16, 2009

Who, I mean, who! has performed as well as USC this decade.  Oklahoma in the 50's, Army in the 40's, Nortre Dame at anytime.  With a little luck and less stupidity they could have have won over 70 games in a row.  No blowouts, only stupid loses.  How do you get multiple Heisman winners on offence and then a year later get the defensive player or the year?  Can score 50+ and give up under 10-.  Why?  PRO prospects want exposure and this is the machine for future ALL AMERICANS with big pay days if they perform at the highest level.  BCS BOWL games?  Best of the best, right?  Who has the best record?  This isn't just this year, but YEAR AFTER YEAR.  Kill Ohio State, Penn State, Auburn, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Illinois, or anyone of substance.  Only Texas totally lucked out andsqueaked out a win in the last 16 seconds for the Championship, but really, if USC didn't do a few dumb things, they had this wrapped up!  They didn't come from behind, only lost because of dumb mistakes when controlling the game.  Standford, boo!   Oregon State away game, boo, UCLA, boo, etc.  Who except Texas has beaten USC when a game was REALLY important.  NONE!  Who can say that?  Nobody.

Next year USC has a new quarterback, only competition will decide.  Do they have a stable to choose from?  USC could have scored an extra 100 points if they wanted to this year, so a lot of secondary people got more playing time than any other team in the nation.  They also shared in 3 shutouts.  Why?  They are also good, and ready to do the same next year.

Except for Sanchez, on offence who is leaving that isn't really more proven that the rest of the country?  USC has a QB waiting in the huddle that will be a next PRO caliber QB waiting in the wings, 4-5 tailbacks that are as good as anyone has in their stable.

USC has had more offensive and defensive players chosen for the NFL than anyone else, so the BIG BOYS have a good reason to come to USC, and they do, why?  The best.  Everyday they play against the best on the other side of the line, and after learning from future 1st/2nd round NFL draft choices on a day to day basis, how much more can you do to become better prepared for the season, much less the draft.

Certain teams are built for a certain year to "mature" and have a good or "great year".  They recruit and build for a "comeback", see Alabama, Oklahoma, Penn State, Nebraska, Auburn, LSU, UCLA, Miami, etc.  Others stay down because their programs can't handle the ups and downs of keeping a program "UP" in the competition of high powered money making college football.  USC has exposure?, maybe more, Nortre Dame, all East Coast power Houses, but who is productive on the field and future dollars in the NFL?  NOBODY.

So why is USC so proud and more than keeping up with the Joan'es, because they are USC, a power house that year in and year out can bring the best talent they want.  Propects want the best and the best future for their talents to be exposed.

Some years another team may get a better ranking, USC leads the nation in stupid loses, but where would you like to be as an aspiring football star?  Everyone you will compete with has the same aspirations, PAYDAY.  USC is a $ machine, if you are good enough.  Years of success makes this a no brainer, USC is the best, andwith the machinery in place to produce the best of the best in all positions, they will continue to year after year produce a program than is progressive beyond the one or two year wonders.

I hate the picture of the SF Giants as a picture, I am a Dodger fanatic, but the website won't let me change the picture.  Don't no why, but after a half an hour, my hate of the Giants melting me with them makes me want to spend zero more time.  Just dismiss the picture please.
