College Football Recruiting 2013: 5-Star DB Su'a Cravens Makes Surprise Decision

Wes ODonnellJun 5, 2018

Five-star safety Su'a Cravens has an offer from just about every major program in the country.

The 6'1", 205-pounder is the only 5-star recruit in the state of California so far this year, and that is saying something.

At one point, Cravens had narrowed down his choices to USC, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Stanford and Arkansas, but, according to Adam Gorney of Rivals, he's opened up his recruitment and even plans to visit a few Big Ten schools. From Gorney (subscription required):

There have been some recent interesting developments: Cravens said he plans to take visits to Michigan, Ohio State and Nebraska before making his decision. The idea was to commit later because he doesn't want to back out of his pledge, but Cravens said he's considering making an earlier decision if he finds the right place.

"

Many expect Cravens to be a safety at the next level, but the California native said some schools have even talked to him about playing running back too.

All in all, the Vista Murrieta High star is a wanted man with a number of options.

Gorney reports Cravens does have ties to the three Big Ten schools he'll be visiting, but he's also keeping the West Coast powers in mind.

The biggest surprise is that he doesn't have a favorite in mind, but believes he'll make a decision sooner than later if the right place comes along.

When programs like Alabama, Florida, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Nebraska, Michigan, Stanford and USC are involved, there is no telling what can happen.

Cravens grew up in Los Angeles, so it certainly wouldn't be surprising to see him wind up a Trojan. At this point, and seeing the way he's handling his recruitment, nothing would surprise anymore.

Expect the unexpected with Cravens involved—he's that type of player—and expect whichever program lands him to be ecstatic.
