College Football Recruiting 2013: 4-Star QB Cooper Bateman Lines Up Visits

Wes ODonnellJun 6, 2018

Cooper Bateman wasn't the most heralded quarterback on the field at the Elite 11 regional in Dallas this past weekend, but don't tell him that.

The Rivals 4-star recruit from Salt Lake City was out on the Cowboys' field and competing with the likes of Tyrone Swoopes and Shane Morris, top 20 players in the nation, among others, but it was Bateman who won 247Sports' MVP.

At 6'3", 205 pounds, the Utah native's performance in Dallas isn't the only bit of hype surrounding him right now. ESPN's Tom Luginbill broke down the QB's performance and talked about how great his potential is going into this season.

But there is a lot of attention being paid to where he's going to play after this season.

The pro-style quarterback has offers from the likes of Alabama, Arkansas, BYU, Florida, LSU, North Carolina and Washington. He also has offers from other in-state schools like Utah and Utah State, and he's reportedly highly considering them. He's also reportedly dropped Stanford as a candidate after 4-star recruit Ryan Burns committed to play on The Farm.

So what's next for Bateman? Visits.

Charles Power of 247Sports reports that trips to LSU and Washington are scheduled next and that the QB also plans a swing through the SEC for the month of June.

He's already visited with the in-state Cougars, Utes and Aggies, but the time has come for him to venture away from his comfort level.

A trip to LSU is not one that will be taken lightly, and neither will a trip to Washington. A swing through the SEC in June will certainly draw attention as well. The Crimson Tide, in particular, have been heavy after a top quarterback recruit for some time now, and coach Nick Saban loves to keep things interesting.

Bateman still has another season of high school ball to play, but these next few months are going to play a huge role in where he potentially plays for the following four years.

As the summer closes in and the temperature rises across the country, the race for Bateman will heat up too. Get used to hearing his name, because his star will continue to grow.
