New York Jets: Why Tim Tebow-Mark Sanchez 2 QB System Will Never Work

The New York Jets have put themselves in a position to fail by pairing Tim Tebow with Mark Sanchez. 

There is an expression in the NFL that says if you have two quarterbacks, you actually have none.  

Acquiring Tebow was bad enough for Sanchez, but then when you hear the Jets talk about how they are going to use him, it makes things even worse. 

Head coach Rex Ryan said that he doesn't expect to see Tebow standing on the sidelines a lot this season.

I don’t see Tim just holding a clipboard. He’s going to be playing for us. There’s no doubt. He’ll have a role. There won’t be a better Wildcat quarterback in the game. Is that his only role? We’ll see what happens.

At the same time, Jets owner Woody Johnson is talking about how they work for the fans, while praising Tebow as a winner.

Let me be really clear about this: We work for the fans and the fans want us to win games, so all of the decisions we make regarding the team are just for football. It’s hard to predict other things. If you get confused as to what your mission is, you’re not going to accomplish your mission. Our mission is to win games, pure and simple. We think Tim Tebow has been a winner all his life.

"

Just listening to these people speak makes your head spin, so you can only imagine what is going through the minds of Sanchez and Tebow. 

To compound the problem, fans love Tebow so much that the second Sanchez makes a mistake there are going to be calls for his head. He can't do anything wrong this season, or else he is going to answer a lot more questions than he would normally have to. 

Tebow has done nothing to prove himself as an NFL quarterback. All the fans see is the fact that Denver won a few games with him starting. They fail to realize that the defense actually kept them in a lot of those games because he couldn't do anything for the offense. 

Using Tebow and Sanchez together is a recipe for disaster. Neither one will know where they stand and their teammates will have to adjust the way they play based on who is taking the snaps.

The Jets made a hasty decision to acquire Tebow, basically making a move just for the sake of making a move.

Good luck to them, because that system has never worked in the NFL. There is no reason to think that will this time.
