NFL Rumors: Indianapolis Colts Will Reportedly Work out Andrew Luck and Not RG3

Zach KruseJun 7, 2018

While the Indianapolis Colts may remain slightly undecided on whether to pick Andrew Luck or Robert Griffin III, their personal workout schedule suggests they have the No. 1 pick all but settled.

According to the Associated Press via ESPN.com, who spoke with Colts general manager Ryan Grigson on a conference call Monday, Indianapolis has a private workout scheduled for the Stanford quarterback in the coming weeks. Griffin has no such workout in the Colts' planner.

The Colts were in attendance for Griffin's pro day workout at Baylor, but that appears, as of right now, to be as far as the visits will go for the two sides. Of course, that could change as the draft approaches.

However, Grigson remained steadfast in the fact that the Colts have not yet made a decision on who they will pick No. 1 overall.

"

Grigson insists that evaluation is continuing and the Colts have not made up their mind about which player to take with the No. 1 pick. He also says the Colts do not plan to start negotiating with their choice before the draft.

"

Luck was on record Monday morning saying the Colts have not yet informed him of their decision with the pick. This from Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk:

"

“They haven’t said those words yet," Luck said on the Dan Patrick Show

“I’ve talked to coach Pagano, I’ve talked to coach Christensen, but they haven’t come out and said that. I understand they’ve got their work to do, they’ve got their due diligence to do, and I understand if it works out, great, and if it doesn’t, that’s great as well.”

"

I believe Grigson and Luck when the two sides say that the Colts haven't made a final decision on the No. 1 overall pick. Given the magnitude of the decision and how it will affect the franchise in both the present and future, it's hard to blame Grigson for taking every second to make the decision.

Luck still appears to be the front-runner despite any ground Griffin has made up, and reports that Luck will visit Indianapolis only build on that thinking. A private workout doesn't guarantee Luck will be the pick, but it certainly speaks volumes on where the Colts are in the process.
