Thomas AtzenhofferMar 28, 2012

Just over two months remain before the opening of the summer transfer window and as the day draws near for the madness to start the rumor mill keeps pumping away.

Major clubs, minor clubs and those in the middle are all hoping to finish strong and set themselves up for the best chance to land the next best thing for their club.

Knowing that it is truly the summer moves that make a difference in the direction of a club going forward there are no more important rumors than those that turn out to be true for your club.

Here are the top 13 rumors that you need to know right now.

Edin Dzeko

1 of 14

The Daily Mail and The Sun both are claiming that Manchester City could offload striker Edin Dzeko after only 18 months in the English Premier League.

Dzeko was a phenomenal goal scorer in the German Bundesliga with 85 goals in 142 appearances for VfL Wolfsburg before his move the Manchester.

It took him time to settle in England but with 18 goals in 31 appearances this season he has proven that his ability is still there.

However, a limited amount of time it the starting line up has the player once again unsettled, and he is believed to be looking at a possible transfer to Borussia Dortmund in the summer.

Abel Hernandez

2 of 14

Palermo starlet Abel Hernandez is looking at a possible move to Arsenal this summer.

Talk Sport is claiming that the Gunners are set to propose a £15 million offer for the 21-year-old Uruguayan.

An Arsenal offer last season was rejected, but this summer could be a different story as Palermo are known for producing great talent and then selling them on just as they have done with Edinson Cavani and Javier Pastore.

Marouane Chamakh

3 of 14

Arsenal's never ending frustration with Marouane Chamakh has seen them watch the last two seasons as the former Bordeaux striker has failed to ever make an impact for the Gunners.

The Sun is reporting that he could be in line for an exit with a Paris Saint Germain looking to secure a move for £5 million and offer him a new lease on his career.

Raul Meireles

4 of 14

Portuguese midfielder Raul Meireles could be a journeyman once again this summer after having had new clubs in successive seasons already between Liverpool and Chelsea.

He was a great part of Liverpool's run to the finish under Kenny Dalglish in the later half of the 2010-11 season. However, he was sold on the final day of the 2011 summer window to Chelsea for a reunion for former manager Andre Villas-Boas.

The dismissal of Villas-Boas from Chelsea is believed possible to send him in a new direction again as both the Daily Mail and Crunchsports.com claim he is a target of Italian side Juventus.

Klaas Jan Huntelaar

5 of 14

Schalke 04 and Netherlands international striker, Klaas Jan Huntelaar is a believed transfer target of both Manchester United and Bayern Munich as his contract talk over an extension at the Rhineland based club are stalling.

Goal.com reported earlier this week that Bayern were closely watching the situation in regards to Huntelaar as s future strike partner of Mario Gomez.

Manchester United have also been linked with a move for the player by Givemefootball.com, and it is looking like he will be a strongly chased attacking come the opening of the window.

Christian Eriksen

6 of 14

Rising Danish starlet Christian Eriksen of Ajax Amsterdam has been a major target of Manchester United for some time now.

Now it appears that the Red Devil's are being joined in their hunt for a future star with Italian giants AC Milan, according to Talk Sport.

Mario Goetze

7 of 14

Despite being one of the hottest transfer targets in Europe, Borussia Dortmund and German national team member Mario Goetze is no longer on the radar of anyone.

Sky Sports are one of multiple outlets that have confirmed that the youngster has agreed an extension with Dortmund until 2016.

Eden Hazard

8 of 14

Chelsea are the latest team looking to have stepped up full interest toward signing Belgian winger Eden Hazard.

Metro are claiming that the London club are on the horizon of setting their final offer to the talented Lille OSC youngster.

Fulham Trio

9 of 14

Fulham boss Martin Jol has been reported by the Daily Mirror as calling for Danny Murphy, Andrew Johnson and Clint Dempsey to all re-sign for the Cottagers.

Dempsey is the least likely to re-sign as he has had a career season this year and it could help improve his prospects of going to a more major club considerably.

Mark Van Bommel

10 of 14

Dutch veteran midfielder Mark Van Bommel of AC Milan has admitted that he would be open to a return to Eredivisie club PSV Eindhoven where he started his career.

At age 34, Van Bommel could still sign another contract with the Italian giants, but if not his most likely destination is back to PSV, according to Goal.com.

Matias Suarez

11 of 14

Liverpool are believed to be leading the chase for a second Suarez as the cards look on the table for a 20 million move for ASC Anderlecht striker Matias Suarez, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Reds attacking pair of Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll has struggled much of the time they are on the pitch together despite the Reds having a 68 percent win ratio with the two paired up.

Matias Suarez could be a more fluid partner for Luis Suarez as they both are more technical ball possession based attackers where Carroll's strength is in the air not at his feet.

Lucas Barrios

12 of 14

To add more steam to the Edin Dzeko rumors, the last week of March has also seen Borussia Dortmund attacker Lucas Barrios reportedly sign a four-year deal with Chinese club Guangzhou.

The door for the Dzeko move as well as the cash for it in the form for Barrios €12 million release clause seems to start putting the writing on the wall according to Sky Sports.

Ezequiel Lavezzi

13 of 14

Napoli star Ezequiel Lavezzi is usually not the one in the media as teammate Edinson Cavanni is the biggest name on Napoli's squad right now.

However, the Daily Mirror is claiming that Lavezzi is set to be the subject of a transfer war between both Chelsea and Tottenham.
