Best Promotional Ads for Each MLB Team (Video)
With the start of the season comes the initial marketing push that every organization makes to engage their fanbase.
Sometimes these teams go for humor, others they go with the sentimental angle, using children to play up baseball truly being a kid's game.
Either way, baseball advertising can make for some of the more creative in-game entertainment out there.
Arizona Diamondbacks
1 of 30As the Arizona Diamondbacks learned, adding kids to any advertisement can be an effective way to market.
Atlanta Braves
2 of 30Teams do have a tendency to utilize stars to push a product, but that's not the case here, as the Atlanta Braves instead used M.C. Hammer.
Baltimore Orioles
3 of 30As one of the cornerstones that will play an important role in the growth of the Baltimore Orioles franchise, using a player like Adam Jones can help resonate with fans and build hope, as this ad attempts to do.
Boston Red Sox
4 of 30A step up from M.C. Hammer (I think), the Red Sox used Boston native Dane Cook to pump up the fanbase for an October push in 2007.
Chicago Cubs
5 of 30The newest ad for MLB '12 illustrates something that fans in the Windy City have waited all too long for, as the vision of seeing the Cubs finally win the World Series seems surreal.
Chicago White Sox
6 of 30I guess I'm biased as a Twins fan, but I prefer this to the version floating around with this guy holding a "HE GONE" sign.
Cincinnati Reds
7 of 30Bobbleheads have always been an easy sell for fans, but the Cincinnati Reds didn't let them sell themselves, instead opting to put on wigs to seal the deal.
Cleveland Indians
8 of 30I guess I'm not really sure what's going on here, but the Cleveland Indians' hot dogs are showering with Gillette shower gel.
So, that's...weird.
Colorado Rockies
9 of 30This one definitely made me laugh, and I wish I could get away with blaming my job when I said no to household tasks.
Detroit Tigers
10 of 30Again, not actually a Detroit Tigers commercial, but still a hilarious advertisement depicting a Comerica Park proposal.
I wonder if men are finally realizing that's not a good idea?
Houston Astros
11 of 30It looks like a number of different teams utilized this video, adding their own fan at the end. Nonetheless, it's a funny one.
Kansas City Royals
12 of 30It's a good thing Eric Hosmer can play baseball, because he certainly can't act.
Los Angeles Angels
13 of 30ESPN's baseball commercials have always been pretty good, and with the resurgent roster (and payroll) the Halos could very well find themselves in another.
Los Angeles Dodgers
14 of 30Ok, so this isn't really a Los Angeles Dodgers commercial, and it's not even Matt Kemp.
But it made me laugh really hard, so here you go.
Miami Marlins
15 of 30I haven't seen much in the way of new advertising for the Miami Marlins, although I'm sure it must be making its rounds in south Florida with everything going on for the fins.
Milwaukee Brewers
16 of 30It almost seems like using signs in a humorous manner is taking the easy way out since they always seem to be so out there, but I guess if it works you might as well stick with it.
Minnesota Twins
17 of 30The Minnesota Twins have always had a pretty interesting way of producing marketing campaigns, and when Torii Hunter was in the Twin Cities he was always a focal point in their promotions.
New York Mets
18 of 30I can't blame Mr. Met one bit. I'd be dangerous if I could get my hands on a t-shirt gun.
New York Yankees
19 of 30Once again, back to ESPN. Derek Jeter doesn't always seem to be the most animated player on the field, but it's good to see players across the board showing the willingness to participate in these ads.
Oakland Athletics
20 of 30To be honest, I'm surprised the language barriers aren't used more in ads featuring baseball players given the vast number of nationalities that players all come from.
Philadelphia Phillies
21 of 30I actually wish there was a little more of this in the dugouts during games. You need to take the game seriously, but when you're playing a kid's game, feel free to have some fun.
Pittsburgh Pirates
22 of 30Pretty extended video here, but it's pretty cool to see the way they integrated these moments with kid's playing. After all, as I mentioned, this really is just a kid's game.
San Diego Padres
23 of 30It must be nice to be the San Diego Padres marketing department, and always have the ability to fall back on the chicken whenever you're stumped for content.
San Francisco Giants
24 of 30This is about the most toned down I've ever seen Brian Wilson in an advertisement. I guess the beard is what sent him over the deep end.
Seattle Mariners
25 of 30Another team always known for it's clever marketing campaigns are the Seattle Mariners.
Here, they find a unique way to welcome newly acquired slugger Jesus Montero to town.
St. Louis Cardinals
26 of 30It's amazing how picking numbers can become a difficult task, but when you're reminded of the illustrious list of players in St. Louis who have donned the Cardinals uniforms, it makes a lot more sense.
Tampa Bay Rays
27 of 30Again, using kids appears to be a fail-safe in baseball advertising.
Texas Rangers
28 of 30I can't say this is where my viewership goes during the offseason, but this is still pretty funny.
Toronto Blue Jays
29 of 30I could've just as easily seen this being used as the Minnesota Twins campaign. Nevertheless, pretty good stuff.
Washington Nationals
30 of 30I doubt the Nationals are alone when it comes to having broadcasters that are a little bit "homer".
