NCAA Tournament 2012: Kentucky and John Calipari Will Be NCAA Champions

Justin WeltonJun 7, 2018

This is your greatest opportunity to win a national championship, John Calipari.

With NBA talent across the board, playmakers, difference makers and quality role players, Kentucky and Calipari will win the 2012 NCAA Championship.

Calipari has to seal the deal eventually, right?

He's too good of a coach not to win a national championship. Yes, he recruits the best players in high school, but he has an uncanny knack for getting extremely talented players to believe in his system and to play basketball as a cohesive unit offensively and defensively.

Calipari's kids are sure-fire future NBA stars. Anthony Davis has more blocks (169) than most teams in college basketball. He changes and alters more shots than anybody in the country.

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist will do whatever it takes to win a championship. He can score, rebound, defend with his length and athleticism, create offense off of steals and blocks and, most importantly, he leads by example.

When you see this guy working as hard as he does, it's almost impossible not to attempt to match his work ethic.

One downfall for Kentucky in the past has been their lack of experience. That hasn't been the issue this year.

Darius Miller is a senior leader, and Terrence Jones and Doron Lamb are sophomores but have enough game experience to be considered juniors.

Inexperience simply isn't much of a factor for this Kentucky squad.

We know that Kentucky has the talent to win a national championship, but what about their remaining path to the title?

Baylor will be a tough out in the Elite Eight, but Kentucky is just a more talented version of the Bears.

Louisville already lost to the Wildcats this season 69-62 when the Cardinals were ranked No. 4 in the country. The Wildcats match up well with the Cardinals' athleticism.

The two teams that I felt could compete with Kentucky were Syracuse and North Carolina because of their talent level.

Syracuse doesn't have Fab Melo, and they were eliminated by Ohio State on Saturday night.

North Carolina has an injured Kendall Marshall, the best point guard in the country.

The door is wide open for Kentucky and Calipari.

If not now, when?
