Tiger Woods: Victory at Arnold Palmer Invitational Would Frighten Opponents

Justin WeltonJun 4, 2018

Golfers aren't afraid of Tiger Woods one-on-one anymore. They used to be terrified going into the final day with Woods' crowd roaring in the distance.

Not so much anymore.

However, if Woods can capture an Arnold Palmer Invitational victory on Sunday, that same fear would be instilled back into his opponents. He holds the lead at 11-under par, one stroke ahead of Graeme McDowell.

Woods has played great golf in 2012 posting scores under par on PGA Tour events. Personally, I already believe that he's back and ready to win tournaments again.

However, playing well and winning tournaments are completely different. If Woods really wants to intimidate his opponents again, he will have to win the tournament on Sunday.

With the 2012 Master's days away, this would be a perfect time for Woods to capture victory. Could you imagine the uproar for Tiger if he won? Not only at the tournament but on media outlets across the globe?

The thought process to everyone except Tiger haters would be that he's back.

Most importantly, Woods would believe that he's back.

Confidence in golf is paramount to a golfer's success. Having belief in your swing, what club to use and ball placement goes a long way in the sport. One hint of hesitation or rethinking a situation and your confidence is shot.

Woods struggled with his confidence over these treacherous months of lousy play. He's slowly regaining his swing and regaining his confidence.

Fellow golfers see and recognize it. They know that a victory at the Arnold Palmer Invitational would finalize the fact that Woods is back.

Woods winning this tournament would provide a great storyline going into the Masters. Hopefully, for the sake of golf, Woods continues to play well.
