Arnold Palmer Invitational 2012 Leaderboard: Why Tiger Woods Will Win on Sunday

Nicholas GossJun 1, 2018

Tiger Woods is in a place once very familiar to him: on top of the leaderboard at a PGA Tour event heading into the final round.

However, it's not a place he's been at much over the last few seasons and he hasn't won a PGA event since 2009.

Woods has a one-shot lead at Bay Hill going into Sunday's action, and there is no chance he surrenders the lead and fails to win the tournament.

Woods is playing really well right now and is happy to be in a great position for victory on Sunday, saying via ESPN:

"

"I enjoy it," Woods said of his place atop the leaderboard. "It means I've played well to get there. It's not like I'm slashing it all over the place and happened to be at 11 under par. If you're in the lead, you've done some good things. That's how I've always looked at it, and it's a nice position to be in."

"

Woods has looked sharp all week and nearly every aspect of his game has been impressive. He's hitting the fairways well off the tee, he's hitting greens in regulation and his putting has been pretty consistent.

With his confidence high and his game improving, Woods will be extremely tough to beat on Sunday at Bay Hill.

The rest of the field may not fear him like they did when Woods was dominating the tour and winning majors constantly several years ago, but he's still an elite golfer who is capable of winning any event he participates in.

Woods will not relinquish his lead on Sunday and will turn in an impressive final-round performance to earn his first PGA Tour victory since 2009.
