Anonymous New York Jets Players Just Can't Shut Up

Aaron NaglerJun 7, 2018

The New York Jets' trade for Tim Tebow has been official for less than 24 hours and some Jets players have already started questioning the move—anonymously, of course.

After several players spent the offseason ripping their starting quarterback Mark Sanchez, and after Sanchez recently came out and called such tactics "gutless," more than one Jets player has felt it necessary to, anonymously, question the teams acquisition of Tebow

All of the attention on Tebow has some Jets shaking their heads. Several current Jets, who spoke with The Post Saturday, asked not to be quoted but expressed disbelief at the team bringing Tebow in.

The idea of a backup quarterback having a press conference is something they can’t wrap their heads around, and they know it’s just the beginning.

You bet it's just the beginning.

The Jets may want to sell the Tebow acquisition as a football decision, but this is just a small taste of all the ancillary nonsense that accompanies having Tebow on your roster.

Did you know Tebow is looking at a place in Sanchez's neighborhood? Did you care? Of course not, but you can bet that and all sorts of other Tebow non-stories will be shoved down your throat by the New York media, and that crap will get picked up and regurgitated by the national media. Heck, even the league's own website has gotten in on the act.

With this over-the-top interest in every little aspect of the Sanchez/Tebow dynamic, you can bet that Jets players, who have proven adept at running to local reporters to anonymously vent every little frustration, will use this avenue as the year goes on to get whatever message they want conveyed to their quarterbacks—rather than, you know, manning up and speaking to them face to face.
