2012 NFL Draft Predictions: 7 Players That Will Get Their New Coaches Fired
Last year, with his job on the line, Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio selected quarterback Blaine Gabbert in the first round of the NFL Draft.
Gabbert drastically underperformed and the Jaguars moved on from Del Rio.
This year, a number of potential NFL draftees could spell trouble for whatever team with which they eventually land.
Here are seven players who could get their new coaches fired—possibly as soon as next year.

QB Ryan Tannehill
1 of 7CBS Sports Prospect Ranking: No. 3 QB, No. 11 Overall
Scouts Inc. Top 32: No. 3 QB, No. 17 Overall
Why He'll Get His New Coach Fired: I'm actually very high on Tannehill as a prospect, but I don't see his first years in the NFL being very pleasant.
He just recently made the switch to quarterback, so digesting NFL defenses will be much more difficult for him than was his one-read system at Texas A&M.
I see a desperate team (Miami? Cleveland?) possibly reaching for Tannehill and thrusting him into a role he's not ready for, leading to a coach casualty.
WR Michael Floyd
2 of 7CBS Sports Prospect Ranking: No. 2 WR, No. 16 Overall
Scouts Inc. Top 32: No. 2 WR, No. 23 Overall
Why He'll Get His New Coach Fired: In every NFL draft, there are players with off-the-field concerns and then there are players with off-the-field issues.
Then there's Michael Floyd.
After three arrests involving alcohol, I can't trust the Notre Dame wideout no matter how many times he says he's a "changed man."
If this spirals out of control in the NFL, the first person to go will be the head coach.
WR Stephen Hill
3 of 7CBS Sports Prospect Ranking: No. 5 WR, No. 30 Overall
Scouts Inc. Top 32: Not ranked
Why He'll Get His New Coach Fired: This Georgia Tech standout posted marvelous numbers at the scouting combine, running in the low 4.3's and posting a 39.5-inch vertical leap at a height of 6'4".
Of course, when the pads come on, Hill is a below-average route-runner with shaky (at best) hands—Hill played in an option-style offense in college, run-blocking on most plays.
It's easy to see him coming into the NFL and being a major non-factor when his team needs him, leading to ownership questioning the coach's ability.
OT Jonathan Martin
4 of 7CBS Sports Prospect Ranking: No. 3 OT, No. 18 Overall
Scouts Inc. Top 32: No. 3 OT, No. 22 Overall
Why He'll Get His New Coach Fired: When Andrew Luck, the most aware quarterback in the nation, is the quarterback that an offensive lineman is tasked with protecting, a lot of gaffes go unnoticed.
On tape, Martin is a better pass-blocker than he is a run-blocker, but a good amount of his success in the passing game is thanks to Andrew Luck's ability to get rid of the ball quickly.
If he is drafted to play and start at left tackle from day one, he may be the reason that a team's quarterback is seriously injured, season is ruined and coach is eventually given the boot.
NT Dontari Poe
5 of 7CBS Sports Prospect Ranking: No. 2 DT, No. 12 Overall
Scouts Inc. Top 32: No. 1 DT, No. 10 Overall
Why He'll Get His New Coach Fired: Poe may have posted great numbers at the combine, but he lacks the high motor to be a difference-maker in the NFL.
Some team will get sucked into the hype, picking Poe in the top 15 and placing their hopes in the behemoth as a franchise savior.
When whatever unfortunate coach that gets Poe is unable to get the defensive lineman to perform, the organization may be swift in changing the man at the helm.
DE Quinton Coples
6 of 7CBS Sports Prospect Ranking: No. 1 DE, No. 7 Overall
Scouts Inc. Top 32: No. 2 DE, No. 9 Overall
Why He'll Get His New Coach Fired: Quinton Coples has the talent to be a premier pass-rushing defensive end in the NFL, but he may never get there with his current attitude.
After a disappointing senior year led to questions about his desire and heart (two things I'd never want a draft pick of mine criticized about), Coples took to blaming his environment, school and situation.
Instead of vehemently denying that he would ever take a play off, Coples passively accepted the assessment and pointed the blame at others, just like he may point the blame at an NFL coach if things don't go well.
CB Janoris Jenkins
7 of 7CBS Sports Prospect Ranking: No. 4 CB, No. 36 Overall
Scouts Inc. Top 32: No. 2 CB, No. 14 Overall
Why He'll Get His New Coach Fired: Janoris Jenkins is one of the most talented players in this year's draft class, but he's too immature to succeed in an NFL environment.
Jenkins squandered the opportunity to play football at the prestigious University of Florida, instead being forced to transfer to North Alabama after severe off-the-field issues.
Of all the people on this list, I think the former Gator has the best chance to prove me wrong. He seems like he's gotten his act together and he could work out just fine.
