NCAA Tournament Scores 2012: Kentucky's Offensive Firepower Won't Be Stopped

Nicholas GossJun 3, 2018

Kentucky's offensive talent is far greater than any team left in the NCAA tournament, as evidenced by their 102-90 victory against Indiana in the Sweet 16.

With so much depth and scoring talent, the Wildcats offense will not be stopped as they march toward their first national title since 1998.

Five Kentucky players scored in double figures against the Hoosiers, including three players with 19 points or more.

The amazing part of the Wildcats offense is their ability to dominate the in any style of play thanks to their superior athleticism.

In a slow half-court game, Kentucky has the size and skill of star forward Anthony Davis, who can score in the paint, and forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, who drives to the basket as well as anyone in the country.

In an uptempo game, Kentucky guards Doron Lamb and Marquis Teague dominate opposing defenses with their remarkable quickness and great playmaking abilities.

There are no glaring weaknesses in Kentucky's play right now, and there really aren't many small ones either.

One area that John Calipari-coached teams typically struggle with, especially during March Madness, is free-throw shooting.

However, the Wildcats were phenomenal from the line against Indiana and hit 35 of their 37 attempts. Kidd-Gilchrist, Teague and Lamb were a combined 24-for-24 from the free-throw line.

With an abundance of talented offensive players, if one or even two Kentucky stars struggle to score, Calipari has three or four more players who can step up and lead the team to victory.

This kind of depth and talent is rare in college basketball, but the Wildcats have as much talent as some NBA teams, like the Charlotte Bobcats. That's not a joke.

Kentucky's ability to score around 100 points against top-tier teams like Indiana is just amazing and with all the offensive firepower at Calipari's disposal, no one will stop the Wildcats on their journey toward a national title.
