Arnold Palmer Invitational 2012 Leaderboard: Don't Expect a Tiger Woods Meltdown

Nicholas GossJun 3, 2018

With the share of the lead through two rounds at the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill, Tiger Woods is halfway to his first PGA Tournament victory since 2009.

Despite his lack of success over the last few years, don't expect a meltdown from Woods over the final two rounds of this tournament.

Woods didn't play to his best on Friday, but overall, he was pleased with his second-round performance, saying via ESPN:

"I didn't hit it quite as good as I did yesterday, but I putted better today," said Woods, who shot a 3-under-par 69 on Thursday. "It was a solid round of golf."

"I'm comfortable in the lead, but we have a long way to go. I just have to continue plodding my way along," Woods said.

One of the major reasons Woods has a great shot to win this event is because of his ability to hit the greens regularly and put himself in position for birdie putts.

His putting game was quite impressive on Friday, as Woods made six birdies, including four straight at one point on the front nine which got him off to a fantastic start.

Woods also hit 17-of-18 greens in Round 2, which really helped him set up some quality chances to improve his standing on the leaderboard. In addition to his success hitting the greens, Woods also drove the ball well on 10 of the 14 fairways on Friday.

With all facets of his game looking sharp thus far, there's no reason for Woods to lose his momentum and fall down the leaderboard.

He's playing some fantastic golf right now and looks to be gaining a lot of confidence with some really good rounds of golf this season.

Woods will continue his strong play at Bay Hill and win the Arnold Palmer Invitational and go into The Masters playing some of his best golf in recent years.
