NFL Draft 2012: Ryan Tannehill and More Overrated Bums Who Will Go in 1st Round
The 2012 NFL Draft is loaded with talent in the first round. There are tons of players that are just oozing potential, and promise to be difference makers for whichever lucky franchise selects them for years to come.
There are also a few guys that many experts believe will be drafted during the first day of the process that simply will not pan out.
It happens each year and these busts never end up making a difference in the NFL for any number of reasons.
Here are some potential wastes of a first-round pick.
Ryan Tannehill
Tannehill is projected to go as early as No. 4 to the Cleveland Browns, and also quite possibly No. 8 to the Miami Dolphins.
It’s ridiculous that anyone would even think of taking this scrub in the first round.
If they are that desperate for a franchise quarterback, they should tank next season and grab someone like Matt Barkley when he becomes available.
This Texas A&M kid is just being overhyped and is arguably the third-best quarterback in a two-QB draft.
Quinton Coples
Coples size, speed and athleticism have him primed and ready to go near the top of the first round.
The problem with that is he never displayed dominance on the college football field, so why should he be expected to at the next level?
The UNC product should have been destroying the competition, but he was constantly getting caught up in double teams and looked lost at times.
He needs to work on his technique and motor if he wants to be worthy of his selection.
Alshon Jeffery
The Gamecock receiver could not create separation against smaller, slower and weaker college competition and will not be able to do it in the pros.
Jeffery, physically, looks like an absolute monster and someone that should become an elite NFL receiver.
Mentally, he’s just not all there and he has yet to put his frame and athleticism to proper use.
