Michigan Football Recruiting 2013: Wolverines Focusing on Much Needed 4-Star WR

Wes ODonnellJun 7, 2018

The Michigan Wolverines are off to arguably the best start in the 2013 recruiting class.

With 16 recruits already committed and many more highly sought-after players still considering UofM, coach Brady Hoke can be picky about which players to legitimately zero in on.

While he will do just that, one position he needs to focus on is wide receiver. In the Wolverines' top 10 2012 recruiting class, they only landed three 3-star receivers.

They'll say goodbye to some of the top-tier offensive production (a.k.a. Denard Robinson) at the end of this season and will be transitioning back to Hoke's preferred pro-style offense. They believe they have the quarterback, 5-star commit Shane Morris, to run that offense, but need to give him more weapons.

Of the 16 recruits already committed to Ann Arbor, only one is a receiver, 3-star Jaron Dukes. That is why it is no surprise at all to see Hoke and the Wolverines giving extra attention to 4-star recruit Demorea Stringfellow.

Todd Worly of 247Sports quotes Rivals' 107th-ranked recruit in the nation, saying:

"

"I just talked to Coach Ferrigno (Wednesday),” Stringfellow said. “He’s trying to get me out there for spring practice. I told him I was going to try to get out there. I’m trying to convince my parents to let me go out there ... He’s saying I’m going to be a big-time player out there, that I can be the leader of my class and I can do a lot of stuff in their offense. He likes my size, that I’m a sure-handed receiver, that I’m physical and that I’m pretty fast."

"

At 6'3", 190 pounds, it is hard not to like a kid who is still just learning how to play the game. A year ago (only Stringfellow's third ever playing football), he recorded 46 receptions for 1,080 yards and 19 touchdowns.

That type of production with his combination of size and speed, make for a dangerous recruit with unlimited potential. He also has offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Nebraska, UCLA and Washington State.

Stringfellow is one of 14 other wide receivers the Wolverines have extended offers to in the 2013 class, so it is safe to say they know they need help out there.

With so many players already committed, the pressure will be on a few of these big names to make decisions a bit quicker than usual if they want to wear the Maize and Blue.

For the Wolverines, that is exactly where they want to be.
