Manny Pacquiao's Legacy
Manny Pacquiao's Legacy? You wonder is it timely enough to talk about the Pacman's legacy when in fact he is still on the mainstream of the world's current events and news headlines? Could it be written now?
I don't know about others but for me as of this moment it is compelling to talk about Manny's legacy. Manny aside from being the wealthiest ever sport hero on Philippine soil, has done so many great things here that it will take a lot of space on this article to list all of them and all are in the level of being a legacy.
So I would limit myself to most generalized topic to be considered, although some might find it an injustice, I beg for your pardon.
First and foremost, Manny will hand down from generations to come are his great fights in the boxing arena where I describe it as an action packed novel not lacking in all the aspect of fireworks, struggle, drama, with highlights of emotions mostly of victory and humility. One could watch his fights over and over again and feel the same feeling the first time he saw it.
And this is because most of his great fights, he is the underdog and he eventually wins. This is I think the compelling reason why most of his fights are better to watch than any other fights.
Coming in second is his life story. A true to life rags to riches and fame story that is very unique. From an unknown little town in Mindanao to the famous cities of America is the background of his story and from the boy selling stolen cigarettes as a famous boxing commentator always note to the pound for pound greatest boxer in the whole world not to mention being hailed as one of the greatest sportsman of the year by one of the greatest media company in the world. This I think will be hard to beat in terms of legacy.
Thirdly is his influence not only to all Filipinos but to all boxing fans in the whole world. I say Floyd Mayweather might be the complete and intelligent fighter the world has seen but still his influence to the majority of boxing fans remains pale in comparison to De La Hoya during their prime and I think as of this moment Pacquiao has inherited that by his domination of Oscar in the manner never thought by anybody.
As of now the saga of the little brown bomber known as Pacman will continue and its nobody's guess what will be in store for the still young fighter at the age of thirty. I hope he continues to bring happiness to million of people specially to those who look up to him as a fellow little brown pinoy with under privileged life he used to live.
