FC Barcelona: How It May Overtake Real Madrid in La Liga Tables

The notion of Barca overtaking Real Madrid was considered laughable in the beginning of 2012. La Blaugrana was in second place, with a ten-point difference separating it from Real Madrid.

At the present time, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid are separated by six points. According to ESPN Soccernet, FC Barcelona is in second place with 66 points, behind the 72 points of Real Madrid.

What transpired?

FC Barcelona started to win matches such as the one against Bayer Leverkusen in the UEFA Champions League. Messi surprised people with his five goals, and Tello did the same with two goals.

Barca defeated La Liga teams such as Granada, Sevilla and Racing de Santander in a convincing manner. The impetus to win must have originated from the match against Bayer Leverkusen.

Real Madrid made mistakes in its matches, which were costly. One of the mistakes was its draw against Villareal in the last La Liga match.

What can be done for Barca?

The possibility exists that La Blaugrana may overtake Real Madrid in the 2011-2012 La Liga tables. What should be done for this to occur?

FC Barcelona must win the remaining matches of La Liga and win with big scores. Lionel Messi could do that by scoring goals.

Cesc Fabregas, Carle Puyol, Cristian Tello and Gerard Pique can also help on offense as well as defense. Pep Guardiola can use the reserve of Barca B (as reported in the FC Barcelona website) to replace Eric Abidal, Alves and Adriano in matches.

FC Barcelona should not forget to use the 4-3-3 formation that has helped the club during its matches. When all of this happens, FC Barcelona will be in first place in La Liga.

It remains to be seen what will transpire in this crucial season.
