Kentucky vs. Indiana: Why Indiana Has No Chance

Ian BergJun 7, 2018

Kentucky and Indiana will square off Friday, March 23 at 8:45 p.m. CT.

The Hoosiers and Wildcats have battled once already this season with Indiana winning a tight game in Bloomington this past December.

Despite the 73-72 victory over the ‘Cats earlier this year, Indiana stands zero chance to advance past the Wildcats in the coming Sweet 16 match-up.

Indiana has played well in the tournament this season, appearing in the “Big Dance” after a four year hiatus.

Unfortunately for the Hoosiers, Kentucky will end their latest run into the tournament.

Kentucky Looking for Redemption

1 of 4

John Calipari has his team playing their best basketball of the season when it matters most.

The Wildcats are hitting their stride in the tournament with Indiana on the horizon.

Earlier this season the Wildcats traveled to Indiana and lost a tight and well-played game.

The Wildcats finished the regular season with only one loss, it came to the Hoosiers.

The Wildcats won’t lose again to the Hoosiers.

Kentucky is eyeing a national title, and earning a little payback on the way to the top is always great motivation.

Though Indiana will have confidence entering the game after their success earlier this year, the Wildcats will likely deflate the Hoosiers early in the contest.

Kentucky’s Speed Is Unmatched

2 of 4

Kentucky’s unmatched speed will give the Hoosiers a host of issues in this game.

Indiana will look to play strong half-court defense against the Wildcats, forcing Kentucy to make tough shots against the Hoosiers tight defense.

Indiana will also attempt to keep Kentucky away from the three-point line, as the Wildcats have shown an ability to hit shots consistently from the arc.

Unfortunately for the Hoosiers, the Wildcats will look to use their speed and athleticism to make it to the basket consistently.

The Wildcats will blaze past the Indiana defense on the way to a win on Friday.

Indiana Needs a Perfect Game

3 of 4

Indiana played a very good game when they faced Kentucky earlier in the season.

This Kentucky team was good then, but they are even better now. For the Hoosiers to come out with a win, they must play a near-perfect game.

Kentucky has more talent and athleticism on the court and will look to use that to their advantage to gain a big win over Indiana.

If Indiana does not play a perfect game, this could be a big win for the Wildcats as they head into the Elite Eight of the tournament.

Kentucky Will Force Indiana to Be One-Dimensional

4 of 4

Indiana relies on their outside shooters to produce big points and carry them to wins.

Against Kentucky, that isn’t likely to be enough.

As previously stated, the Hoosiers will need a near perfect game to earn the win, which includes flawless shooting from the outside.

Kentucky will look to play tough defense and force errant shots from the Hoosiers.

If the Wildcats force Indiana to rely on freshman Cody Zeller to score points from the inside, the Wildcats will win big.
