Titans Defensive Coordinator Schwartz Hired by Detroit Lions as New Coach
The Detroit Lions, fresh off a historic 0-16 season, have a new head coach in place, as reports are stating that the team has reached a deal with Titans defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz. He has agreed to a four-year deal states ESPN. Schwartz was with the Titans for the past season seasons as their defensive coordinator. “I don’t shy away from a challenge,” Schwartz said earlier this week.
The Lions fired coach Rod Marinelli one day after the team wrapped up an 0-16 season with a loss to the Packers. The Lions have announced that they will have a press conference on Friday to announce the hiring. They have released a statement about the hiring.

As MLive.com states: Schwartz was a finalist, along with Miami Dolphins assistant coach Todd Bowles. Schwartz and Bowles are the only two candidates who are believed to have had a second interview. That second interview included a meeting with owner William Clay Ford.
