Notre Dame Football Recruiting: Irish Set for Big Visit with 4-Star Recruit

Brian Kelly is focused on getting his Notre Dame Fighting Irish ready for the 2012 season, but he and his staff have an important recruit visiting South Bend this weekend.

According to Allen Trieu at Scout, 4-star defensive tackle/offensive lineman Darius Latham has narrowed his list down to five schools and will be visiting two of them this weekend.

One of which, of course, is Notre Dame.

Latham will visit the Irish on Saturday before venturing southeast to Tennessee on Sunday. As reported by Trieu—"In no particular order"—the five schools at the top of his list are Notre Dame, Florida, Tennessee, Wisconsin and Ohio State.

The Indiana native visited with Badgers earlier this month and has offers from across the country.

At 6'5", 285 pounds, it is easy to see what teams like about the North Central star. He's a talented athlete with a lot of upside and still has his best football ahead of him.

Latham not only stars for his school's football team, but is also a force down on the low block for his hoops squad. He doesn't have elite explosion, but does have impressive agility and feet for a guy his size.

On the gridiron, he can play either side of the football, starring at both defensive end and offensive guard as a junior last year.

Schools are recruiting him on either side of the ball.

So far, Kelly and his staff have only earned commitments from three recruits in the 2013 class, but Latham is one of many to have an offer from the Irish. 

They know they're in for a battle for the rising senior, especially with Ohio State just joining the mix last week. His visit must be one the Irish take seriously.
