Andrew Hatch Is Leaving LSU

James W. FontenotJan 15, 2009

This past offseason LSU fans have been so excited about gaining talented quarterbacks and claiming that we will now be stacked at the signal caller position for the next five years.

Today Les Miles told the news that Andrew Hatch will not be back at LSU because of personal preferences. And it is confirmed that the former Tiger will go back to Harvard to pursue his studies at the place they began.

Obviously, he realized that he would have no shot at starting QB for the Tigers in September because of the late emergence of Jordan Jefferson and the signings of Russell Shepard and Chris Garret. The competition would definitely be too much for the former Harvard Junior Varsity QB.

Hatch had a decent season for LSU, starting three games and throwing for 286 yds and two touchdowns, while running for 129 yds and two touchdowns. His career went down hill when he got POPPED, got a concussion in the Auburn game, and he later broke his leg in practice.

Well we know the rest of the story, Lee comes in and throws it to the other team and then gets hurt in the Ole Miss game and then Jefferson comes in and emerges as the starting QB. All of this because an Auburn defender "JACKED UP" Andrew Hatch which started this roller coaster of QB controversy. So I say thank you Jerod Powers (guy who destroyed Hatch) for starting Jordan Jefferson's journey to the starting QB spot.

I'm not saying this to be "mean" or insensitive to Hatch. I think things happen for a reason and thank goodness it did. Hatch was not the right quarterback for LSU, he didn't have the arm strength to start at QB, i havnt seen him throw a deep ball or even a hard thrown ball for that matter. He just doesn't fit.....and im not sure if he can take hits like a quarterback should.

I'm not dogging the poor guy, I never thought he was the right player for the job. But I do want to wish Andrew Hatch luck in his future career in medicine or dentistry or even a scientist because that is why you go to Harvard in the first place. So good luck Andrew Hatch on your JV maybe Varsity season at Harvard.

P.S. watch out for Jerod Powers
