Jeremy Lin: New York Knicks Point Guard Steps Up When It Counts the Most

Mike MoraitisJun 7, 2018

In what was an ugly win at best, the New York Knicks topped the Philadelphia 76ers, 82-79, on the back of Amar'e Stoudemire and a strong fourth quarter by Jeremy Lin.

Through the first three quarters, Lin had trouble getting things going for the Knicks offense as a whole and struggled from the field, shooting 4-of-17 during the game and was 1-of-11 going into the fourth quarter.

It would have been easy for any normal young player to give up and take himself out of the game. but Lin doesn't fit that description.

The Knicks point guard showed perseverance in New York's winning effort tonight and ended up scoring 16 of his 18 points against Philadelphia in the fourth quarter and shot 3-of-6 from the field in the process.

In the last few minutes of the game, Lin was called on to hit some big free throws and passed the test with flying colors, as he continues to improve his free-throw shooting as the season goes along.

Anyone who says head coach Mike Woodson is going to lessen Lin's role isn't watching what the Harvard grad is doing on the floor every night.

He continues to be the catalyst for New York's offense even after all the attention has waned and single-handedly propelled the Knicks to victory down the stretch.

That buzzer-beater three-pointer Lin hit against the Toronto Raptors was no fluke, and it's becoming more apparent that Lin is a guy who can be a money player when the Knicks need him most.
