College Football Recruiting 2013: Battle for Montravius Adams Goes Beyond SEC
When you look down the list of offers for defensive lineman Montravius Adams, you have to think for a minute about which SEC teams are actually missing on the list.
All in all, of the 17 offers the Dooly County High (Vienna, Georgia) product has received, 10 are from the nation's best conference.
The offers range from the reigning champions down in Tuscaloosa, to the Wildcats up in Kentucky, to out of conference powers.
While it is expected to see the SEC schools all over the southern standout, the likes of USC, Clemson and Michigan State are also high on the 6'3", 285-pound defensive lineman with four stars from Rivals and five stars from Scout.
Clemson is hardly a surprise, though. The same goes for North Carolina and Miami, two programs that have also extended offers.
Adams is taking it all in stride, and taking everything in. He told ESPN after he visited with the in-state Bulldogs earlier this month, "I’m just looking at everything.”
Indeed he is.
Eric Guimaraes of the Spartanburg Herald Journal reports that the highly-sought after recruit continues to take visits and has no favorites yet.
With USC and Clemson in the mix, the majority of SEC schools know that it is hardly a lock for one of the top recruits in the area to stay in conference.
Clemson will take on two SEC teams this year—versus Auburn (in the Georgia Dome) and home versus South Carolina—and one, if not both, of those games could have on impact on Adams' final decision.
As things go, the highly-touted recruit is going to keep doing what he's doing and there is no reason to believe a decision from him is anywhere in sight.
Here at Signed, Sealed, Delivered we'll break down a top recruiting battle every day in one of our many daily features. Be sure to check it out and have your say, too—we're all ears.
