Peyton Manning Broncos: Legendary QB Will Make Demaryius Thomas a Superstar

Tim DanielsJun 7, 2018

Demaryius Thomas isn't a household name quite yet, but it won't be long until new Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning turns him into one. The third-year receiver will receive a major boost playing alongside one of the NFL's best players.

Manning's impact hasn't been thoroughly explored due to the Tim Tebow drama that was finally resolved today, but Thomas is going to emerge as the biggest winner of all. Going from Tebow to Manning will give him a chance to break out.

The Broncos drafted Thomas in the first round, but he's only managed 54 catches for 834 yards in his first two seasons, mostly because of poor quarterback play. He did start to find a rhythm with Tebow near the end of last seasons, so adjusting to Manning should be easy.

He has all the tools to become a dynamic threat, including good speed and ideal size. His skill set will finally be able to reach its maximum potential with No. 18 throwing darts his way.

One thing that's often overlooked when talking about Manning is his ability to make average receivers look like Pro Bowlers. Players like Brandon Stokley, Austin Collie and many others were beneficiaries of his pinpoint accuracy and terrific decision-making skills.

Thomas has more natural talent than those former Colts stars, so he should thrive in a Manning-led offense. That's especially true if the Broncos are able to add another weapon or two before the season starts to help take the pressure and defensive focus off him.

Even though there are still lingering concerns about Manning's ability to bounce back from a major injury, it's hard to believe he would come back if he weren't confident he would be able to play at a very high level.

Since there's still more than five months before the regular season gets underway, he's got plenty of time to keep getting things back on track. By now, fans know nobody works harder than Manning, so he'll do everything within his power to reach 100 percent by Week 1.

Thomas will be working with him every step of the way, setting him up for a monster season. Take note, fantasy owners. It wouldn't be surprising to see him finish in the top five among receivers at season's end if Manning stays healthy, which he did in every season prior to last year.

Be on the lookout because it's only a matter of time before Thomas starts tearing up defenses.
