LSU Football Recruiting 2013: Highly-Rated 4-Star DL Names Tigers Early Leader

Wes ODonnellJun 7, 2018

Les Miles and the LSU Tigers received arguably their biggest commitment of the 2013 class when in-state athlete John Diarse said "sign me up to be a Tiger" this past weekend.

The sixth commitment so far for the national runner-ups, LSU hopes they can replicate the on-campus magic they created with Diarse this weekend with Greg Gilmore of Hope Mills, North Carolina (South View).

Rated a 4-star recruit by both Rivals and Scout, Gilmore holds approximately 20 scholarship offers.

Heading to Baton Rouge this weekend, Gilmore said we can consider the Tigers his current leader (via GoUpState.com):

"

If there is one, it's LSU ... You can go ahead with LSU as my leader ... I'm going down there with my father ... I want to learn everything I can about them. I'll be looking at academics and what they're all about with that. Just going to look at all of the little things.

"

If all the little things add up for LSU, they'll hope they can eventually secure Gilmore's commitment.

At 6'4" and 275 pounds, he possesses great versatility and could play inside or outside at the next level. If Gilmore reaches his potential, he could be a very disruptive interior pass-rusher on Saturdays.

The Tigers are no stranger to that type of talent and are doing everything possible to improve upon what was actually a down year in recruiting in 2012.

All six of their current commits are in-state recruits with only two of them ranked on the ESPNU 150 watch list.

It goes without saying that Gilmore would be a huge boost to this class and is a needed piece going forward.

Clemson and Florida are very high on Gilmore and have offers out as well, while other SEC rivals Alabama and Auburn haven't offered yet. Georgia hasn't either, for that matter, but there is expectation that the Bulldogs will ultimately get involved.

Look for the Tigers to make the most of Gilmore's visit this weekend to Baton Rouge.
