WWE Rumors: Immediate Push for Lord Tensai Would Be Massive Mistake

Tim DanielsJun 7, 2018

One major mistake the WWE continues to make is pushing new talents or fresh gimmicks way too quickly, which often leads to disappointing results for everybody involved. The creative team must avoid falling into the same trap with Lord Tensai.

Tensai is the latest character for Matt Bloom, who was known as A-Train or Prince Albert during the Attitude Era, and was first shown on Raw in a short vignette.

Ryan Clark of WZROnline.com reports sources are saying he'll immediately get pushed.

As we reported over the weekend, WWE has signed Matt “A-Train” Bloom to return after WrestleMania 28. There are conflicting reports on what his role will be with some sources saying he was planned to be the new henchman for John Laurinaitis while other sources say he’ll be involved in a top feud with John Cena.

"

Both roles would clearly make Tensai a prominent character from the outset. It shouldn't be a surprise since the WWE usually only airs early promos if they have major plans, but that doesn't make it any less of a mistake.

A feud with Cena following his extended storyline with The Rock would be a disaster. No matter who Cena's next angle is with, it will be in rough shape. Rocky's shadow will still be hanging over the company for a few weeks after he leaves.

The expectations for Tensai would be through the roof if he's thrust into battle with Cena, who will be coming off one of the biggest matches ever. In other words, he'd be getting set up to fail.

Becoming an enforcer for Laurinaitis would be a more reasonable start than a Cena feud, but it's still too much for a new character. Making him look dominant right away hurts all of the superstars who have been working for a push each and every week.

Think about the company's top stars. CM Punk, Daniel Bryan and Cena all had to go through a process to reach their current status. They weren't handed a golden ticket to the top, and that really helped them get over with the fans, although Cena has now lost a lot of that support.

Then there's guys like Alberto Del Rio and Sin Cara, who were made out to be big deals right away, but the results were mixed and now both guys will have to rebuild. The same can be said for Sheamus. He's just returning to the top after trying times following his quick push.

If the WWE wants Tensai to be a long-term success and not just a flash in the pan, giving him a more slow-paced build is the best way to make it happen. There are too many risks involved with making him an elite character from day one.

Unfortunately, it appears the writers are doomed to make another mistake. So don't get your hopes up about Tensai's future.
