Peyton Manning to Broncos: Bill Romanowski Crazy to Compare Tim Tebow to Manning
Former Denver Broncos linebacker Bill Romanowski has never been afraid to speak his mind, but that often leads to some crazy opinions going public. The latest example being Romanowski saying Tim Tebow was a better answer for the Broncos than Peyton Manning.
LarryBrownSports.com passed along some of Romanowski's thoughts about the team's move to land Manning instead of sticking it out with Tebow for another season. Romanowski told Craig Shemon on Yahoo! Sports Radio:
"I don’t see this as a huge positive for the Denver Broncos. I don’t think you can just throw in a Peyton Manning, who to me is still broken down—he is not healthy yet—and think he is going to be the answer to getting you to the Super Bowl. To me, you had the answer and you just needed more talent around a guy like Tim Tebow.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
First and foremost, it's borderline lunacy to call a quarterback who's completed less than 50 percent of his passes the answer for any team. The position's top players are regularly completing two-thirds of their throws, if not more.
Even though Tebow brings another dynamic to the game with his legs, he needs to become a much more consistent passer before he deserves a franchise quarterback label. He's worked hard on improving his throwing motion, but the results have been lackluster.
Manning will undoubtedly be a massive upgrade over Tebow. It doesn't matter that he's coming off neck surgery or is getting up there in age; he is still one of the league's best quarterbacks. He wouldn't have made a commitment to the Broncos unless he felt good about his future.
The former Indianapolis Colts star has thrown for more than 50,000 yards in his career and is one touchdown pass away from 400. His career quarterback rating is 95. By comparison, Tebow averaged less than 125 yards per game last season and has a QB rating of 75.
It's simply no contest. When a team with plenty of talent elsewhere on the roster has a chance to add an elite quarterback to the mix, it can't pass it up because its current guy had luck on his side last season.
If fans are going to trust anybody to make a decision about which quarterback is better for Denver, it's John Elway, not Romanowski.
Are there risks involved? Of course, but sticking with Tebow for another year and hoping he can maintain some of his magic is a much bigger risk than Manning's health. The perennial Pro Bowler has already been making progress and there's still plenty of time before next season.
Anybody, including Romanowski, who thinks Tebow was a better option than Manning for whatever reason isn't thinking straight. We're talking about one of the greatest players to ever step foot on an NFL field or a player with one good run under his belt, thanks to a lot of help from his defense.
Signing Manning was the correct decision for the Broncos. Tebow wasn't the answer by any stretch of the imagination.
