WrestleMania 28 Results: CM Punk Retains WWE Championship vs. Chris Jericho
After weeks of arguing about who is "The Best in the World," WrestleMania 28 proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that CM Punk is the undisputed best, thanks to his victory over Chris Jericho.
In the process, Punk was able to retain the WWE championship. This feud started out as a battle for a title, but quickly escalated into something much more.
Jericho has called out Punk's family—namely his father and sister—for their personal problems. He did everything he could to get in the head of the WWE champion. It made for a compelling story that added a lot more drama to the match.

Instead of just being a battle for a title that, frankly speaking, has lost a lot of its luster in the last few years, the match became something more. It became about two men wanting to beat the hell out of each other for the greatest prize in WWE, and to prove, once and for all, who really deserves to be called the best.
The match itself was terrific, with Punk bringing out the best in Jericho, and vice versa. But the drama is what made this that much more compelling.
Now, if Jericho does go away for a period of time, Punk looks even stronger. He silenced all that talk about being a hypocrite and a gimmick thief, because he is still the WWE champion.
It is good to see that WWE is really trying to make the title look like it means something, even though the match was the third from the top as far as build is concerned.
Even if Punk doesn't become the huge ratings draw that someone like John Cena is, he can bring some honor and dignity back to the championship. Compared to what it has been—a piece of leather and gold that gets passed around like candy—that is a vast improvement.
Punk earned his WrestleMania moment, and he got it with this victory over Jericho on Sunday night.
