TNA: Why Is Austin Aries' Talent Being Wasted in a Meek X-Division on Impact?
Maybe the weakest link in TNA's programing should be the most exciting.
The X-Division needs some retooling. Didn't we have this problem about a year ago?
And while the X-Division has lost a little of its punch of late, the work of Austin Aries needs a little more competition. He is floundering in a sea of mediocrity. Can someone please get him a life raft?
While it looked like there could be some really good wrestling in this division, things changed rapidly. We all know about Jesse Sorensen and his neck injury. Chris Sabin has been injured as well. Robbie E has been tooling around, impersonating a Television Champion.
And Kid Kash was a formidable opponent. Brian Kendrick has left the company and Kazarian and AJ Styles are in their own love fest.
The division needs help like the WWE Divas need a makeover.
Aries is way too talented and he should be looking to expand his opponent base. He has all the makings of another AJ Styles. He should be challenging for the Television Title (but not against Devon). He should be calling out the likes of James Storm, Jeff Hardy and Mr. Anderson. Personally, I love the idea of Jeff Hardy and Aries going at it.
There is too much talent there to waste.
Ideally, Styles, Kazarian, Daniels and Hardy should all be cruiserweights challenging for a title like this. They should be helping Aries to get over. They should see his talent and the success he could bring to the company.
It's not happening right now.
In the end, however, the X-Division may decide Aries' fate. That isn't a good thing. In a company that needs to move forward, TNA needs to move forward and expand its cruiserweight division. Instead, it looks like they are holding Aries back. Maybe not by its own fault, but as a matter of the way the competition has moved forward.
