Tim Tebow Trade Rumors: Jacksonville Jaguars Should Make Move for QB

Now that the Denver Broncos have reportedly won the Peyton Manning sweepstakes, they have one quarterback too many on their roster. While Tim Tebow might be a quality backup in the NFL, Denver is almost sure to try and trade him out of town while he still has some value.

Seeing as how the Broncos won't be looking for much in return for the 24-year-old signal-caller, the Jacksonville Jaguars should get involved in the bidding for him.

Tebow is a local legend in the Jacksonville area, and if he arrived in town you could bet the team's stadium would be packed on a weekly basis. The team's new ownership certainly can't overlook the financial impact of bringing Tebowmania to town. 

The Jaguars have brought Chad Henne to town to serve as the backup quarterback, while Blaine Gabbert is penciled in as the starter. But after Gabbert's rookie season, it wouldn't be difficult to sell Tebow to the team's fanbase.

Jacksonville traded up six spots and grabbed Gabbert with the No. 10 pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. While Gabbert has the measureables of a franchise quarterback, he showed none of the ability that a guy like that should possess in his rookie season.

Gabbert played in 15 games and completed just 50.8 percent of his passes for 2,214 yards, with 12 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. His passer rating of 65.4 ranked dead last in the NFL among the 34 quarterbacks who qualified.

Yes, Gabbert could develop, but considering how far he has to go, could making a trade for a multidimensional guy like Tebow really hurt that much? If all they have to surrender is a mid-round pick and the result will be packed stands, that can't be considered a losing proposition. 

The Jaguars should at least look in to what it will take to acquire Tebow as the team would be a perfect fit for the local hero.
