Tim Tebow Trade Rumors: Do Miami Dolphins Make Sense for QB?

Ryan PhillipsJun 7, 2018

The Miami Dolphins appear to have taken a big swing and completely missed on a quarterback this offseason.

Matt Flynn and Peyton Manning have signed elsewhere and reports suggest that Alex Smith isn't really interested in heading to South Beach.

While the team is looking into signing former Jacksonville Jaguars signal-caller David Garrard, that would hardly be a solution to its long-term quarterback needs.

Now that Manning has landed in Denver the Broncos are likely to try and trade Tim Tebow.

Tebow grew up and played college football in Florida and is still beloved in the state. Heck, the Dolphins even honored him before a game this season when the team hosted the Broncos.

While Matt Moore had a nice season for the Dolphins in 2011, no one believes he is the long-term solution at quarterback in Miami. That's why the team keeps searching for an option, yet all the free agents who have visited have decided against joining the team.

Tebow would likely welcome a chance to head back to Florida and be given the keys to the franchise without having to look over his shoulder at the competition.

At least bringing him aboard would give the Dolphins a chance to energize the fanbase.

With wide receiver Brandon Marshall now traded away to Chicago, Miami is likely to go run-heavy on offense, using Reggie Bush and Daniel Thomas to pound the football.

That would be a perfect scenario for Tebow to enter and possibly thrive.

After some huge misses in free agency and in their coaching search over the past two years, the Dolphins need something positive to happen.

Adding Tebow would at least get the NFL talking about Miami again and at least give the fanbase something to pin its hopes on.
